,Que registros puede ver el publico?

El publico no debe poder ver lo siguiente:

,Quien notifica al tribunal si el registro contiene informaci6n que no deberfa ser publica? La persona que presenta el registro del tribunal debe notificar al tribunal si el registro contiene informaci6n que no deberia estar disponible para el pllblico. Presente el formulario de informaci6n restringida (MDJ-008) para notificar al tribunal. Los ciudadanos de Baltimore City no deberan usar el formulario de lnformaci6n restringida. Presenten una notificaci6n por escrito e identifiquen la informaci6n restrlngida. El tribunal determinara si la informaci6n esta sujeta a inspecci6n publica. Si encuentra algo en el registro del tribunal que no deberia estar disponible a la vista publica, notifique al tribunal por escrlto y especifique cual es la informacl6n. Si el tribunal no limita el acceso del publico, puede presentar una petici6n, y un juez tomar.l la determinaci6n. Consulte las folletos mencionados arriba.

Handling a court case yourself ? Maryland Guide & File is a new tool developed by the Maryland Courts to help you complete court forms online. The application guides you through a series of questions called an “interview.” When you’re done, the program automatically generates all the forms you will need, along with detailed instructions on what to do next. Download, print, sign, and file your documents with the court.

Why Use Maryland Guide & File? • Convenient. Use it from any computer with internet access. • Smart. The application knows the forms you need based on your answers. • Start and finish when you want. Create an account to save your work and return later. • File your forms . Completed forms can be filed in person or by mail. Some interviews can be e-filed directly from the Guided interviews make it easier to complete court forms.

What is Maryland Guide & File? Maryland Guide & File is a web-based tool that helps users fill out court forms. The program adds answers from the interview questions into the form. Users can then print the form and file with the court in person or by mail. Electronic filing directly from the interview is available for some interviews. (Not available for cases filed in Baltimore City.) What are the benefits to using Maryland Guide & File?  The interviews help to make legal issues easier to understand.  Help content based on the questions in the interview.  Users can complete forms anywhere with internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Creates court forms that are complete and legible.

 The “Next Steps” document outlines what filers need to do next in the process.  Electronically file your case and documents remotely for some court matters. How much does it cost to use Maryland Guide & File?

It is free to use Maryland Guide & File to create, save, and print your court forms. Users must still pay any filing fees before the court will open the case. If the user is unable to pay the court filing fees, they may file a Request for Waiver of Prepaid

Costs (CC-DC-089) (available in PDF or Guide & File interview). What forms can be completed using Maryland Guide & File?

The current list of all interviews is available at: mdcourts.gov/guideandfile. Interviews are not available for every form or legal matter, but more interviews will be added as they become available. If you cannot find the form or legal topic you are looking for, go to: mdcourts.gov/forms for fillable forms. Do users need to register to use Maryland Guide & File? No. A user account is not required to create and print court forms in Maryland Guide & File. But, the user’s information is not saved unless they have an account and are signed in. Users must register if they would like to file electronically (e-file) at the end of the interview, if the option is available. What are the benefits of having a user account in Maryland Guide & File?  Guide & File saves the person’s work at the end of every page;  Users may go back to finish answering questions, or edit what was already answered; and  A user account is necessary to electronically file (e-file) at the end of the interview, if the option is available. Who can use Maryland Guide & File? Anyone with internet access and a need to complete court forms may use the system. Users who do not have an attorney may find the program most helpful. Is use of Maryland Guide & File mandatory? No. Maryland Guide & File is a tool to help individuals complete court forms. Fillable forms are still available online for free at: https://mdcourts.gov/forms. Also, two (2) free copies of most forms are available from a District Court clerk. Extra forms may cost $.50 each. What hardware/software is needed to use Maryland Guide & File? A computer is required. Users must have Internet access, a web processer (Google Chrome is preferred), and the ability to print forms if filing in person or by mail. What should the user have available before they begin an interview? The list of documents needed to answer the questions is available at the start of each interview. All interviews will need:  Contact information (name, address, telephone number) of the parties; and  Court location where filing the case.

What are the options available to file forms completed using Maryland Guide & File? Once a user has completed the interview and reviewed their form(s), they may:  Print the forms, then file with the court in person or by mail; or  Save or print and scan the forms, then file electronically (e-file)* through Maryland Odyssey File & Serve.  Save the forms, then file electronically (e-file)* directly within Maryland Guide & File (Not available for cases filed in Baltimore City.) *NOTE: When a user e-files a court form in Maryland, they MUST continue to e-file for all filings in the current case AND in any future case. If a user logs in to take an interview, the program saves the information for 30 days. If a user does not log into the system, interview answers are not saved. Getting Started with Maryland Guide & File QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE (QRG)

General Information Maryland Guide & File is a web-based tool that helps fill out court forms. The program takes answers from the interview questions to fill the form. You can then print the form and file with the court in person or by mail. Electronic filing is now available for some interviews. Completed forms can be e-filed directly from the interview based on the type of case and court location. (Not available for cases filed in Baltimore City.) The purpose of this guide is to assist you in using Maryland Guide & File program. How to Register with Guide & File • You do not need an account to use the program to complete your form and print it without saving. • You must register if you want to file electronically (e-file) at the end of the interview from Guide & File, when the option is available. To register: ❶ From the Guide and File program homepage – maryland.tylerhost.net/SRL, select Register from the icon drop-down box in the top righthand corner.

❷ Fill in the contact information fields, including: name, email address, password, phone number, address, and password question and answer (in case you forget your

password, you can answer the security question you choose to reset). A registration video is also provided to guide you through the process. Passwords must be at least eight characters with at least one lower case, at least one upper case, and at least one number or symbol. ❸ Once you have filled out the necessary information and agreed to the terms, click .

Navigating Through an Interview

❼ You can use either the Go to drop-down menu or the Previous and Next buttons to go to a different page: • Use the Previous or Next buttons to go back and forth from the current page. o You will not be able to go to the next page if a required answer is missing or there are formatting errors displayed. • Use the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page in the middle to go to a specific page. o Only the pages you have completed will be available in the Go to menu. NOTE: Review all entered responses to make sure they are correct, especially if you needed to use the navigation buttons at any point.

Features of Guided Interviews Welcome Page After you select the interview you want to complete; the Welcome Page will appear. This page contains: • General information about the Guide & File program; • A summary of the legal issue you have; • The title and number of the form; • Any other form(s) available (depending on your answers to the interview questions); • What information and documents you may need to complete the form(s); and • Applicable filing and service fees.

Help Content “i" Question Button If there is helpful content that relates to a specific question, you will see this symbol . When you click the button, a popup will appear, giving you more information.

Right Sidebar On the right side of each page you will find help content related to the information and questions on that page. This may include definitions to legal terms or links to resources.

Completing an Interview Answering Interview Questions

Respond to the questions so that your answers are complete and accurate. Information you type into the interview will appear on the forms exactly as you enter it. Use full sentences and correct capitalization and punctuation. If a question has a red asterisk (*), you must provide an answer to continue.

Review of Documents After finishing the interview, the program will create your form(s). Review the documents to make sure all information is accurate and complete. You will also be able to download the “Next Steps” document, which tells you what to do next in the process. ⓬ Click Select… under Actions to View and Download your completed form(s).

⓭ Make sure all the information on your form is correct and complete. To make changes or add information, close the form and click .

⓮ Review the "Next Steps" document which may include deadlines for completing certain steps for your case.

Filing Your Form(s) with the court • Review your forms. It is your responsibility to make sure the information is correct. • Save, email, or print a copy of the forms to keep for yourself and another set to file with the court. • Sign the printed forms. • File your forms with the clerk of the court by mail or in-person. See the Court Directory for location and contact information at: mdcourts.gov/courtsdirectory. E-filing with the court • Review your forms. It is your responsibility to make sure the information is correct. • Save, email, or print a copy of the forms to keep for yourself. • Your form will show your electronic signature. • You will get an email confirming the court got your form(s). The email has links to the form(s) you E-filed. Check your Junk or Spam folder if you don’t see the email. • Pay the filing fee. For a breakdown of specific civil costs, see the table on the Welcome page (first page of interview) or check the District Court’s Civil Cost Schedule (DCA-109). If you have filed a fee waiver request, you may not have to pay. • Give notice (serve) the defendant(s) by: certified mail; private process; or sheriff or constable. When the defendant is served, a “Proof of Service” must be filed with the court.
