To blend seamlessly with nature. Perhaps they are the latent source of our dedication to crafting furniture that harmonises with its surroundings rather than asserting itself as a standalone object? Tradition also feeds innovation. This can be seen in the mesh we first adopted when launching Contessa in 2002, using material with conceptual roots that stretch back centuries to the traditional crafts of Nishijin, Kyoto. We drew upon Nishijin textile techniques of weaving and thread dyeing to create durable mesh that supports the body without sagging, remains pliable enough to provide maximum comfort, and delivers a distinctive
sheer style for the chair’s contemporary form, harmonising seemingly contradictory qualities.

Abilis. Inspired by the fluid curves and balance of the natural world. Abilis takes a progressive approach to defining the character of a modern office chair. By seamlessly merging the lower back and armrests into one cohesive structure, an open loop shape is created that visually frames the seat. This way of integrating shapes gives Abilis its distinctive, dynamic and forward-looking design.
Designed in collaboration with ITO Design, a German design firm that has produced a variety of furniture designs and received numerous awards.

• Abilis uses hexagonal loop frames to reduce materials while delivering strong, reliable back support.
• Fewer components make the chair easier to dismantle and recycle, lowering environmental impact. • With a press of a button, Armrests can be adjusted in three dimensions. Height change through a 100mm (4”) range, pads 50mm (2”) angled up to 20 o left & right. • Adjust the reclining tension by turning the dial beneath the seat clockwise to increase tension and anticlockwise to reduce it. • Easily adjustable for each user ensuring comfort and support, through seat height, depth and headrest functionality.
