What is your main source of income and who are your main clients? Initially, our main source of income was from private investors and research grants
could benefit from a more structural approach to ensuring the future supply of photonics engineers. As Board Member of the Danish Optical Society, part of our mission is to raise awareness about photonics and inspire young people to consider it as a career. We have representations in different regions of the country, both in companies and universities. This allows us to evaluate the needs of companies on the skills and numbers of photonics engineers in different sectors and provide local universities with recommendations about their teaching programs.

from the Danish Government and from the European Commission, but now, it is from sales. Our main clients are with hospitals and the companies that run the ambulance services. We also have pharmaceutical customers for whom we have developed the UV222 Booth. It is a solution for disinfection of gowned personnel prior entry into cleanrooms, reducing the bioburden introduced with the protective personal equipment.

How do you see the future?

COVID-19 has been a big driver for interest in our lamps and although the virus has subsided

in Europe, it is still a big issue in some areas. We also work on solutions for other infectious diseases, for humans, animals and plants. For this purpose, we started antennas of UV Medico in quite a few countries to create partnerships with local universities. We are also involved with the food industry as the shelf life of certain products, in particular bread, can be extended by using our lamps to prevent the growth of mold.

do much differently. What is important though is to keep an eye open as to what the market needs are and to work together with colleagues to create as much as collaboration as possible to move the technology forward.
