in Sciences, entirely taught in English. Representing the University, Prof. Bianca Sulpasso welcomed them at the airport, accompanied by Engineering Angelina De Benedictis, Head of the International Students Division and a member of the administrative staff closely involved in supporting the project and the students’ integration process. The University’s involvement in the initiative does not end here. The arrival of three additional Palestinian students is expected in the coming months, one of whom will be supported by a scholarship funded by the Department of Mathematics. Through IUPALS, Tor Vergata continues to turn solidarity into concrete action, welcoming new voices and perspectives into its international academic community and reaffirming the central role of universities as open spaces where education, responsibility and global citizenship come together.
2025/2026 academic year, in collaboration with national institutions and partners. The first to arrive in Rome were Saja R.B.A. and Fawzy M.F.A., who reached Italy on 23 October 2025. Their arrival represented the beginning of a new academic and personal journey, shaped by study, exchange and cultural encounter, as well as the opportunity to experience a new educational environment. They were welcomed at the airport by the Rector of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Prof. Nathan Levialdi Ghiron, together with the Delegate for Internationalization, Prof. Bianca Sulpasso. Since their arrival, both students have already begun attending courses taught in English and are actively participating in academic life and in the wider university community, gradually becoming part of the daily rhythm of campus life. “At times like these,” the Rector underlined, “education becomes not only a cultural bridge and a space for dialogue, but also a tool for peace. And it is precisely from universities that hope for peace can arise, despite the inevitable difficulties”. These words reflect the deeper meaning of the IUPALS initiative and the role universities can play in fostering understanding, cooperation and long-term perspectives beyond borders, even in complex international contexts. At the end of November, two more students joined the Tor Vergata community: Haya A. M. A. and Asil A. O. N. Both are enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree Programme
