Maximize ROI At SCE (CONT’D FROM PAGE 82)

be sure to take advantage of every opportunity available to you as an exhibitor. Concerned you may miss out? Give the organizers a call and double check that you have made the most out of your pre-show marketing opportunities. One of the most important and widely-attended net- working events is the gala reception, being held at Uni- versal Studios Theme Park this year. Tickets sell out fast, so you need to buy them early. Buy extra tickets to give to your customers so they can get in on the action. It’s a great way to build relationships, meet new and old friends, and most of all, have some fun. We all need a little fun, espe- cially after this trying year. Use your words to communicate your company’s unique value to your customers through digital tools to heighten awareness and drive engagement. Know who you want to reach, and what you invested in, so you will maximize all available opportunities leading up to the show. Being Proactive On-Site Just because you have done a good job getting the word out, doesn’t mean attendees will automatically be flocking to your booth. Will your booth activations make the experience entertaining and unique? Interactive games and contests attract visitors and reinforce your message. They also keep people at your booth longer, giving them the opportunity to consume more of your messages. When it comes to promotional products, the usual pen or stress ball are solid choices, but don’t underestimate handing out something a little more unusual to make a bigger, and longer-lasting impact. When it comes to high- er-impact promo items, we’re seeing some really cool swag like self-heating mugs, useful phone accessories and fashionable and functional apparel. Making meaningful connections is not going to happen just by sitting in your booth and chatting with co-workers. While being “Booth Baby Sitters” certainly has its benefits, this year, the stakes are simply too high. Booth staff need to be on their “A” game. Many companies grew during the pandemic while others have only recently seen a return in demand and sales opportunities. Both groups will be attending with very specific needs in mind. I predict more high-quality conversations -- and likely more deals -- to be had as a result. If someone is eyeing your booth, wave them in with a cool introduction, share a joke, ask a ques- tion-- engage them immediately. Don’t wait to see if they are interested--- high quality conversations can only occur when you have the opportunity. Create the opportunity. And as with any trade show, those attending and ex- hibiting can get a better sense of the latest trends and happenings by signing up for the many conferences and breakout sessions (we suspect Positive Lessons Learned Post-COVID will be a popular choice). Not only can you gain real industry insights, it is a great opportunity for com- panies looking for collaborations and strategic partner- ships to make connections.
