ABOUT THE MADD

TEEN INFLUENCER GROUP

MADD’s mission is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of

these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking. The MADD Teen Influencer Group,

established in 2017, is an element of our underage drinking prevention programs that

creates a mutually beneficial relationship between program staff and youth in the local

communities they serve. The purpose of the Group is to provide leadership development

for teens by training them to be peer-to-peer educators. These teens provide MADD with

the youth perspective and use their voice to educate the public. They commit to take a

personal stand against drinking alcohol or consuming drugs before age 21 and riding

with someone who is impaired. Through planning and implementing fun activities and

environmental strategies in their community and schools, these teens develop valuable

skills and promote health and safety. The group participates in MADD’s signature events

which helps keep our work relevant to the next generation it serves. By reducing and

then eliminating underage drinking, these teens will help MADD end drunk driving.

TEEN INFLUENCER TESTIMONIALS

At MADD, we firmly believe that educating the next generation of drivers is key to eliminating drunk and drugged driving. As Teen Influencers, these young people develop empathy for those affected become committed to preventing this 100% preventable crime. They also gain crucial skills that not only prepare them to be confident leaders, but also empower them to make the smart decisions for the future.

Something which makes me proudest when it comes to being a Teen Influ- encer is being able to meet with my team and come up with ideas and make them a reality.

I think that my leadership abilities have im- proved since being a teen influencer re- quires extensive cooperation with other people and, so far, it's been going smoothly. I feel that I'm making a difference and con- tributing to the group's efforts.

I’m proud of my presentation skills. I was never too great at presenting in front of people I don’t know, but MADD has helped me overcome this challenge which in turn has made me a better teen influencer and student.

I have learned many saddening real stories and statistics during my time as a teen in- fluencer. Even when I am above 21, I will never drink out of moderation. I don’t think I will ever leave the house without thinking to be careful today, because if I’m not then an accident could occur and it could be my last day.

Great opportunity as a stepping stone into my volunteering jour- ney within my community and just has so much to give!
