For the past three years, the NAS Oceana Air Show has solidified a ground-breaking partnership with the Virginia Beach City Public School System (VBCPS) to create a one-of-a-kind “Outdoor STEM Laboratory” on an unprecedented scale.
SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS (STEM)
• Recognized by the International Council of Air Shows as one of the best military air shows in North America. • Four-time winner of the prestigious Dick Schram Award for groundbreaking community relations and collaboration. • Previously selected as the Air Show of the Year by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron. NAS Oceana hosts the most widely attended air show on the East Coast, with up to 275,000 spectators annually!
STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach to learning where rigorous academic concepts are coupled with real-world lessons. Students apply science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in contexts that make
connections between school, community, work, and the global enterprise en- abling the development of STEM literacy and with it the ability to compete in the new economy.
