a butterfly enter your field, their awe and grace naturally forms its own dimension, and nothing else exists in the moment, except the butter- fly. There is no other moment such as this one. Thank it for the reminder to focus on the now, which acknowledges the next moment — that change is inevitable, constant, and as beauti- ful as it is. Feel that the path of form is a cyclic sequence of imperma- nence, and that is butterfly-like in and of itself. Geese — Putting Your Foot Down A flock of geese lands in the middle of an urban area and disrupts traffic. They cross streets and march through parks, joining homeless encampments. If you see these geese, you may be amused by them. They tromp along, chomping on grass and weeds and even trash. They cross a busy thoroughfare regardless of whether the light is red or green. What they really want to say is, “We are putting our feet down. We are unperturbed birds, so we have powers of air and ground to- gether.” If you happen to come across this display or draw a goose card from an animal deck, take inspiration from the geese’s assertiveness and stay true to yourself, even in the face of adversity. My role was to help import and settle exotic butterfly and moth species from India, Australia, Chi - na, and South America after they hatched from chrysalides. It was an incredibly fun use of my time to witness them hatching from a chrys- alis in one moment, then taking flight the next. It is an exposition of birth. A scientist once said that you can nowhere find the butterfly in the worm that turns into it. It is invisible. Butterflies are graceful reminders of transformative experiences and the lightness of being. For a short period of time, their chrysalis is a proxy for the vessel of our human body. They are testaments of our continual transformation in life. Floating gems of pixie-like magic, butterflies won’t be contained, even in a butterfly form. When you see
