MIND-BODY-SPIRIT
Maybe your next therapist shouldn’t be a therapist
metaphorically, spiritually. What shifts do you feel within your body or in your perception as you take on an observing role? How do you share space with others in your life? What are the types of things you wish to feel ownership of? Firefly — Dynamic and Subtle Inspirations At the brink of summer, the sighting of the first firefly is evocative and nostalgic. The firefly reminds us of the pulsating, phosphorescent source of inspiration and its orientation to impermanence. It is the same feeling when we are moved by a song, poem, photograph, dance . . . and love. Fireflies are oracles of precious, fleeting life. Firefly medicine pro - vides a way of looking at your own source of inspiration and seeking ways to support it. Our light shines the way for others, so they can shine theirs. Together, we can illuminate the way forward with our generational evolution. Ask yourself: If we had only so many opportu- nities to shine our light for a short period of time, what would we do with it? Animals of Earth Earth energy is life-giving, grounding, stable, dependable, conserva- tive, fertile, death and rebirth, prosperous, wealthy, and sensual. Bear — Acquiring the Strength to Go All In A sighting of a bear might make a person initially feel uncomfortable, but it also gives a sense of reverence. The strength of a bear is its own innate power. A bear acquires strength during the fall months, when it prepares for its hibernation by eating and drinking continuously. Its long coma is not only important to its survival but beautifully woven into subconscious introspection. After the bear awakens from its hi- bernation, it begins a new state of life and direction. It enters a cycle of full nourishment, then goes into the void to dream and awakens to a new life. It teaches us that the cave, or the “void” in our lives, can be a surprising place to acquire strength. The question is, how brave are you to take a chance on going all in to the void to rediscover this kind of strength? When I visited Abingdon, Virginia, to focus on my writing, I stayed in a cottage surrounded by four hundred acres of trees. Traveling alone, I trusted the woods and its wildlife. One morning as I walked to my car, a few-hundred-pound black bear was meandering on site, and we found each other with only a thirty-foot separation of air. I had nothing on me but a distinct pulsating heartbeat. It came alone, with no cubs. The bear and I had a stare-down for about ten seconds. It lifted itself on its back paws and continued its intense stare standing up. We were mirroring each other vertically, a woman and a black bear with nothing but space in between. In that moment, I connected deeply with its inner trance. We be- came one in that specific moment. Besides feeling shock and uncer - tainty about what will happen next, the bear’s piercing, eternally dark eyes asked me, “How far are you willing to go into the void to discover what is waiting for you?” After what felt like eternity, it dropped back on all fours, grumbled something, and slowly walked away. Are you willing to explore the unknown aspects of yourself and un- cover the strength that lies within? Deer — Gentle Spirits like a Subtle Breeze I met a man named Bright Sky. Akin to a deer’s intuition, Bright Sky possessed an uncanny connection to nature, evidenced by his re- markable ability to predict wind patterns with astonishing precision. “It is about to happen now,” and as he said “now,” the trees around us
Eric Weinstein It’s Not Therapy (It’s Problem Solving)
Did you know that: • Licensed therapists are limited to certain approaches by “standards of care” that leave out a number of highly effective healing and personal growth modalities? • Even if you’re paying out-of-pocket for your sessions, your therapist might be unable to use anything “different” because of insurance company requirements and state regulations? I’m not a therapist, but I always have a therapist or two among my clients. They come to me for: • the most ancient healing modality (shamanic healing) • proven, but less conventional modalities (hypnosis/ NLP [Neurolinguistic Programming] and Eye Movement Integration [similar to EMDR, but gentler]) • the most exciting new energy modalities (Energy Psychology, such as EFT or “tapping” on meridian points, biofield work, and chakra manipulation) • Voice dialogue (which one therapist referred to as “Internal Family Systems on steroids”) • intriguing coaching modalities (including True Purpose coaching and Archetypal coaching) And they come for all the same problems they might see a conventional therapist for – as well as problems and questions of a spiritual/energetic nature. So, whether you’ve gotten what you can from talk therapy, want action-oriented approaches, or want a holistic body/ mind/spirit approach, why wait to find out how your life can be better?
