The Subtle Body Series Sundays, Feb 23, March 23 & April 27 from 1–4 pm, at Willow Street Yoga Center, Takoma Park, MD.
From the perspective of the Sri Vidya Tantra Tradition of Yoga, the body is considered the altar of transformation. This workshop series will help us begin to experience the body in an empowered way as we access our ‘subtle body’ known as ‘the energy body’. We will learn some of the basics of energy anatomy, such as the Panchakoshas, the Bandhas, the 5 Prana Vayus, and the Nadis. Most importantly, each session will be an experience of practices that will enable us to draw the relationship between our subtle body and our physical body. These sessions are open to all levels of practitioner. Each session will have some lecturing, discussion, and practice of poses, breath, meditation and Nidra (when indicated). Session One: The Navel Center / Lunar / Foundational February 23, 2025, 1–4 pm In this session we will explore the 3 main energy channels (‘Nadis’) that run along the spine. Session Two: The Heart Center / Solar / Purifying March 23, 2025 1–4 pm In this session we will explore the 5 energy vayus that govern all the functions of the human body, and we will explore the sacred locks, or, ‘bandhas’ that help us to contain the vital force. Session Three: The Third Eye Center / Fire / Transformational April 27, 2025, 1–4 pm In this session we will explore the ‘panchakoshas’ or the 5 energy sheathes. Our practice will include breath work, bandhas, deep relaxation, meditation and more.
