UIndy Magazine - Summer 2026

YOUR VISION, OUR FUTURE Philanthropy at the University of Indianapolis is measured not only by impact, but also by intention. Alumni and friends can choose to direct their giving toward endowed funds that reflect their values, experiences, and hopes for the future. These gifts go beyond broad support by creating lasting resources with a defined purpose: a scholarship that opens doors for first-generation students, a professorship that advances teaching and research in a critical field, or a program fund that expands hands-on learning opportunities. Endowments ensure that generosity endures, providing support not just for today’s students, but for generations to come. In shaping these funds, donors become partners in the University’s mission, aligning their personal legacy with the evolving needs of UIndy and the communities it serves.

Angus. “Establishing the R.B. Annis Distinguished Professor of Engineering is a meaningful way to extend that vision. This gift ensures that exceptional faculty will continue to inspire, challenge, and prepare future engineers for decades to come.” An endowed professorship is one of the most powerful ways a university can invest in its future. By providing permanent funding for a faculty position, it helps attract and retain exceptional scholars while signaling a strong commitment to academic excellence and a particular field of study. Endowed positions also give faculty the freedom to innovate by supporting research, enhancing teaching, and creating new opportunities for students. In turn, they strengthen academic programs and elevate the university’s reputation in key fields.

The investment represents a significant commitment to strengthening UIndy’s efforts to develop Indiana’s future STEM workforce by preparing the next generation of engineers, problem solvers, and innovators. “Bob Annis was driven by a belief in discovery and in the potential of young people to push the boundaries of science and engineering,” said Dan Yates, one of two trustees of the R.B. Annis Educational Foundation, along with Chuck
