NOTES OF GRATITUDE FROM OUR GUESTS AND PARTNERS

We have been honored and humbled that we were able to have a "home" in Nashville during Drew's treatment. I cannot begin to express our gratitude to everyone that made this possible! It was an easy commute to Vanderbilt Medical Center and Charlotte Avenue is a great central location with all the amenities! - Cathe

THANK YOU so much for all MAA/Open Arms does to support our patients! We are very grateful! - Lara

I have stage 4 breast cancer. Your organization is so gratifyingly allowing me to stay in an apartment in Cary, NC while I receive all my treatment from Duke University Hospital. I want to thank you. It has been such a blessing for my family to have one less worry- I now have a home close by my treatment that allows me to do all I have to do especially since I can’t drive. I don’t know what we would have done without the Open Arms Foundation and all you have done for us. - Renee

We are so very grateful for what you have provided for our family. Please let me know what we can do that would be helpful for you or MAA!! - Julie

I wanted to let you know we will be moving out of our wonderful apartment on May 7, 2024. We can’t thank you enough for the opportunity to live here. This has truly been an answered prayer. Thanks again, - Jerry and Carol I am very happy with the progress. My one-year appointments are set for August 20th and August 21st, and I should then not need the apartment as I will not be having constant appointments (hopefully it stays that way!). I might have said this before, but I definitely want to say it again and again and again. THANK YOU! THANK YOU TO YOU AND MAA!!!!!! This has helped me tremendously and has taken a big weight off our shoulders. My family and I have been able to fully concentrate on my healing. That is just priceless! - Stella

Thanks so much for this good news. We are grateful for this opportunity that you have given to our family. Thanks to the Vanderbilt team Sickle cell Transplant team for all their guidance in this process. Bets regards, - Alpha

We are so honored to be given this gift. Thank you so very much! - Michelle

I would like to make a contribution to the Open Arms program. My family was the recipient of MAA’s generosity in Georgia and Louisville many years ago. Thank you for taking the time to help me with this! - Glenda

A phone call with an Open Arms guest recently was eye opening. What this guest and father (and active-duty military member) told me is that his 4-year-old son was diagnosed with a rare and deadly form of cancer in early 2023. This family lives and serves our country from the state of Hawaii. The best chance his child had was to immediately, within a few days of the diagnosis, transfer to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN to start treatment. However, they live on a military salary and still have a $3500 mortgage in Hawaii that they must continue to pay. Our housing allowed for him to keep his house, as well as the whole family, together during the past year plus that his child has been in treatment at St. Jude. He told me that without Open Arms housing, as well as St. Jude care, his son would not have made it, but now his son is in remission! He was very clear that what we do saves lives, just as much as the medical care does. - Michael

Thank you so much, It is great!! It is an easy commute to Brooks (Rehabilitation) and just perfect, all the little touches with games and other items was amazing. Tyler and Zion (MAA Associates) were both really helpful during my stay last week. We are so thankful!! - Susan I just wanted to share that Mieka went out of her way to ensure that our new Open Arms family felt welcome and special. Lots of tears were shed! I am reminded again today why we all do the work we do - to serve others and make a difference in people’s lives! Thank you for everything! - Dana I am writing first of all to thank you for allowing me to live in Kirby Station with my family these past 4 months. Coming to Kirby gave us peace and joy to continue fighting for the health of our daughter Yari. You and Open Arms are angels sent by God and from the bottom of my heart thank you and God bless you and your families. My daughter has been discharged from St Jude and to the glory of God she is cancer free. We are very happy and thankful. - Yamilka

Thank you once again for all your assistance and support throughout this process. I felt such a great energy and warm welcome from Rashad when I walked through the door at MAA Bella Casita. I'm confident that my family will be in good hands at Bella Casita. THANK YOU so much!!!! This is making a huge difference in the life of my sister and her family. It is giving her such joy to consider the drastic change in lifestyle after a year of having to commute to her cancer appointments and juggle her physical therapy against the need to travel. We appreciate you all so very much! - Stephanie Just a quick note to thank you again for the apartment at MAA Fifty-One I lived in. Looking back, that apartment provided so much relief and peace while I was in the midst of treatment and the consequential emotional and financial distress. I am now off most of my medications and cancer free! Thank you for this much needed service that you provide. - Sally Thank you so much for facilitating my move to Legacy Pines here in Houston. Words aren’t enough to express my appreciation for having a stable place to live while my treatment continues at MD Anderson. I wish you and everyone with Open Arms Foundation a wonderful 2023! - Linda

Great work everyone!!!! This is about the fastest turnaround for a patient having a transplant that I can ever remember. I saw her yesterday with the transplant team, and she will be here Tuesday. Thank you all for helping make this come together for this patient. Just a nice side note here and this will make you happy. Patient was diagnosed on November 20 last year, which is her actual birthday. Patient will be transplant on November 20 this year on her birthday. In our transplant clinic, we celebrate their "new" birthday on the day of transplant for their "new life" and now it will be both her "new" birthday and her "real" birthday. Having the transplant ensures that she will have more birthdays in the future - Kelly

Mr. Burton was informed last night he could return home today by his provider. He reported he had returned keys and checked out. Feedback from him, “It was a really nice place. Such a blessing and I am so grateful.” - Najma
