Our Living Lord J ohn 20:1 to 21:25 Memory Verse: “The Lord is risen in deed” (Lk. 24:34). Approach: Last week our story was a sad one. It ended with the death of the Lord Jesus, the Son of God. How sad His friends were when His body was placed in

Objects: Three half-pint mayonnaise jars, a quart tin can covered with green paper, a small quantity of gasoline discolored with lampblack ground in oil or black paint color, some black ink, a piece of black silk, and a piece of white silk. (Fill one jar almost full of water, another with gasoline, and the third with gasoline colored with bulle tin red paint ground in oil. Cut the outline of two hearts and glue them on the sides of the first two jars. Cover the third jar with paper, except for a cross-shaped open ing on the side.) Lesson: Did you know that jars could be like people? I have named these two jars Jean and Jane. I also call them “ the glad and sad sisters,” for reasons that you will soon know. These little bottles look pretty on the outside, but that which is within is black, suggesting sin. Even one sin makes a person a sinner. (Drop only a few drops of the black gasoline in the jar of gasoline, which is “Jane.” Put sev eral drops of black ink in the water which represents “Jean.” There is only one remedy for sin, and that is Christ. Some receive Him, while others do not. Jane gladly receives Christ as Saviour, and you no longer see any sin in her heart. Jean is different—she refuses Christ. (Pour from the jar with red gas oline. The gasoline will not mix with the water, but will rise above it.) We will let this can covered with green paper remind us of the grave. Jane and Jean both die and are buried. (Pour each into the can.) Jean had to die with sin in her heart, because she refused to accept Christ as Saviour. In thinking of the resurrection of Christ, we should remember that He said, “Because I live, ye shall live also.” The time will come when Christ will come and call from the grave the bodies of all those who have accepted Him as Saviour. I pour out of the can and Jane comes out of the grave as she went in—without sin. The Bible tells us in Revelation 20:5: “ The rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.” But you may be sure that they, too, will come out of their graves. I pour again, and Jean comes out of the grave as she went in-—with sin in her heart. (Previously put a band of paper around the top and bottom of each jar so that it will not show if a little of the fluids should get into the wrong jars.) We will cover Jane with this white cloth, for the Bible tells us that those who accept Christ will be clothed in His righteousness. Jean we will cover with this black cloth, reminding ourselves that all those who have not accepted Christ will be cast into outer darkness. Now you will see why I have called them glad and sad sisters.

a tomb! He had told them that He was going to deliver them from the power of sin, and now He was gone. His enemies thought that because they had killed Him, it was the end. But how different the real ending to this story is!

Lesson Story: Jesus’ disciples should have known better1than to believe that this was the end. Jesus Himself had told them that He would rise from the dead. The Old Tes tament prophecies had told them that, too. How easily they forgot! At different times on the morning of the third day after Jesus’ death, Mary Magda lene and Peter and John and others of Jesus’ friends went to the tomb to weep and pray. How great was their surprise when they found that the stone was rolled away! They looked in. The body was gone! Had some one stolen it? No, for the grave clothes were lying there just as they had lain when they were wound around His body. The body itself had arisen. As Mary Magdalene stood weeping in the garden near the tomb, she asked one whom she supposed was the gardener: “ Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him.” Then the voice of Jesus Himself said: “Mary.” Mary turned and saw that it was the risen Lord ! Jesus showed Himself Several times to His friends before He left them to return to heaven, for He wanted them to know for a certainty that the things that He had told them would take place were true. He was alive, He would go to prepare a place for them, He would send them a Comforter, and He would come again. DoYOUNeedMoney? an average one-page letter, from five to fifty errors will appear. It is surprising how many experienced stenographers fail in spelling such common words as “ business,” “ abbrevi ate,” etc. It is astonishing how many busi ness men say “between you and I” instead of “ between you and me,” and use “ who” for “ whom,” and mispronounce the simplest words. Few know whether to use one or two “ c’s” or “m’s” or “ r’s,” whether to spell words with “ ie” or “ ei,” and when to use commas in order to make their meaning ab solutely clear. A Remarkable Invention Mr. Cody has specialized in English for the past twenty years. But instead of going along in the old way he has applied scientific prin ciples to teaching the correct use of our lan guage. He made tens of thousands'of tests of his various devices before inventing his present method. In all his tests he found that the trouble with old methods is that points learned do not stick in the mind. In school you were asked to remem ber rules, and if you forgot the rules you never could tell what was right and what was wrong. For years Mr. Cody has studied the problem of creating instinc tive habits of using good English. As a result of his experience he evolved his wonderful new Self Correcting Method A patent was granted to Mr. Cody on his unique de vice, and now he places it at your disposal. This in vention is simple, fascinating time-saving, and incom parably efficient. You do the lesson given on any page, then you see exactly how Mr. Cody himself would cor rect it. You mark your errors and check them in the first blank column. Next week you try that page again, on the second unmarked sheet, correct your errors, and check them in the second column. You see at a glance what you have learned and what you have failed to remember, until you have reached the 1003$> point in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and expression. Only 15 Minutes a Day A remarkable advantage of Mr. Cody's course is the speed with which these habit-forming practice drills can be carried out. You can write the answers to fifty questions in 15 minutes and correct your work in five minutes more. You waste no time in going over the things you already know. Your efforts are automatically concentrated on the mistakes you are in the habit of making, and, through constantly being shown the right way you soon acquire the correct habit in place of the incorrect habit. There are no rules to memorize. There is no tedious copying. There is no heart-breaking drudgery. FREE— Book on English A new book explaining Mr. Cody's remarkable method is ready.
