WOLBI votes: A guide for making your voice heard on November 5

This guide is designed to provide all the information students need in order to register to vote as a college student in New York, cast an absentee ballot, and vote in person on November 5. Please direct all questions to jtcousins@wol.org . This guide does NOT provide information on voting outside New York State.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024 Early Voting Period is October 26 – November 3, 2024

REGISTERING TO VOTE • Students have a choice about where to register to vote.

• Students attending college may register at their campus address or choose to remain registered or register at their permanent or home address. • You may only be registered and vote in one location.

Qualifications to Register to Vote

• Be a United States citizen • Be 18 years old (You may preregister at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18.) • Resident of this state and the county, city or village for at least 30 days before the election • Not be in prison or on parole for a felony conviction (unless parolee pardoned or restored rights of citizenship) • Not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court • Not claim the right to vote elsewhere
