We are thrilled to know that payroll professionals will carry on being awesome in 2023, as this captured the highest rate of responses. However, we are biased here and we did expect this to be 100%.

There were a few common thoughts on some of the answers given for the ‘other’ category. These included the all famous casual worker holiday pay (you can read more on this here), succession planning (updating manuals and reviewing procedures) and improving efficiency through technology and automation. Are these some of the areas that you will be considering this year?

CIPP hope your ambitions flourish throughout the new year and we look forward to reporting on the Spring Budget 2023, which is coming soon.

Your input really is appreciated, please keep an eye out for our next Quick Poll so you can continue to have your say.

New Quick Poll:How do you calculate your / your clients’ staff holiday pay / entitlement?

Published: 18 January 2023 Emailed: 18 January 2023

The latest Quick Poll is now available on the CIPP news page. With the announcement of the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) consultation on 12 January 2023, the CIPP want to know how you calculate your / your clients’ staff holiday pay.

This open consultation set to close on 9 March 2023 will cover potential changes to holiday entitlement calculations. This is in relation to part-year or irregular hours workers as a result of the Harpur Trust v Brazel Supreme Court verdict.

The Quick Poll should take less than a minute to respond to, and we would like to thank you in advance for your participation. Please note the poll is multiple choice and you can specify in the 'other' box if required.

Please also keep an eye out for our survey releasing soon to allow you to provide feedback on any part of the consultation. This will feed into our response to BEIS as a representative of the payroll profession and our members. Unfortunately, all our think tanks are currently full, if we have capacity to add any further dates we will announce those as soon as we are able to, thank you all who have registered interest.
