New Quick Poll: Have you / your clients seen an increase of requests for copy payslips, since moving to e-payslips? Published: 28 February 2023 Emailed: 1 March 2023
The latest Quick Poll is now available on the CIPP news page. The CIPP want to know if you / your clients have seen an increase of requests for copy payslips, since moving to e-payslips?
Electronic payslips also known as e-payslips are becoming more popular than ever. Many businesses have changed the way payslips are issued to staff to keep up with the times and demand. COVID-19 has also been a driving factor for the move to online payslips or an employee self-service portal, where employees can access other documents such as a P45 or change personal details in real time. Other factors contributing to the increased trend of e-payslips is remote working, reducing carbon footprint and security. However, a common challenge encountered with this alternative involves technical errors, which can result in an increase in administrative duties and queries.
The Quick Poll should take less than a minute to respond to, and we would like to thank you in advance for your participation.
Our annual payslip survey analyses the latest trends in payslips, pay frequencies, payment methods and distribution, and is an important resource for the payroll industry. You can take part in the survey by clicking here. The report produced from this survey will be made available for the industry to see later in the year.

From the poll results it is evident that there is almost an equal split on whether electronic payslips have or have not resulted in an increase of requests for copy payslips. This can vary from organisation to organisation, some factors may include how user friendly the online portal is, how tech savvy the users are, requests received from leavers or for mortgage purposes. Some of the comments shared in the quick poll highlighted that some employees do not have the facility to download and print payslips at home, emails have gone to employees junk mail and some employees receive e-payslips but still prefer a hardcopy. There was also a common theme that many of the requests were from leavers, as the online portal only gives a set timeframe to download payslips before access is denied. However as per the results, there is a distinguished lead on e-payslips proving to be efficient and the drive in reducing the number of requests for copy payslips.
