MARRIAGE CEREMONY

Declaratory Words: “I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I ……… may not be joined in matrimony to …………” (traditional since 1837)

During your ceremony, you are required to exchange legal vows in order to contract your marriage with each other. You will repeat the vows after the registrar, who will break them down into small sections. The Ceremonies Coordinator will provide you with a script from which to build your preferred ceremony; you can decide to include personal vows/promises to one another. The Ceremonies Coordinator will be happy to consider the additional words that you may wish to say. Although the legal declaratory and contractual words must be said in full and cannot be changed in any way, you have a choice of three different vows to use in your ceremony, depending on your preference. Please complete your choices on your marriage checklist so that your registrar knows which to include.
