An extensive package of alarms for fire, disabled refuge and WCs, IP network intercoms and Enterprise-level integrated access control/CCTV/intruder detection was supplied and installed by Scan Alarms at NRC Ballymena. Having previously partnered with the main and MEP contractors to install fire and alarm systems at NRC’s new Coleraine campus, the installation proceeded efficiently. Clive Kinnear, Fire & Security Systems Specialist, says, “Due to the success of the Coleraine campus project, where we demonstrated our ability to install and commission our systems on time and within the project budget, we were appointed as the specialist fire and security company by NUGENT for the Ballymena campus. “Lessons learnt at Coleraine led to the Ballymena project being a lot less challenging. The teams at both NUGENT and Heron Bros were aware of our needs and were very accommodating in terms
of having what was needed in place in a timely manner.” Scan Alarms’ installation and commissioning team also worked closely with the client to co-ordinate the integration of security systems meeting its requirements. Software was programmed to display floor plans highlighting the location of devices generating alerts on staff workstation screens, allowing a quick response to any incidents. “This software is very user-friendly as it focuses in on the exact location of any alerts in the building, guiding staff to the exact location where assistance is required or an incident requires investigation,” says Clive.
