GRANT TRAINING MANAGER KEITH SCULLY OUTLINES HOW ELECTRICIANS CAN BENEFIT FROM TARGETED TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES… Equipping electricians with knowledge, experience & confidence Heating systems are rapidly
evolving, particularly with the rise of renewable energy. Electricians are playing an increasingly vital role in integrating, wiring and supporting these technologies in new build and existing properties. Training Manager Keith Scully explains how Grant, as Ireland’s leading manufacturer of heating technology, is helping to bridge this knowledge gap through its on-site Training Academy and eLearning platform. Tell us about your background and role at Grant? I’ve been working in the plumbing and heating industry for over 25 years across both domestic and industrial sectors. Since joining Grant almost 20 years ago, I’ve worked in technical sales, product commissioning and installer training. Today, I lead the Grant Training Academy, developing training programmes and CPD-accredited courses for professionals across multiple trades including electricians, who are becoming more involved in heating system installations, especially with the move toward renewables. What type of training is available for electricians at Grant? We offer in-person courses at our state- of-the-art Training Centre in Birr, and an ever-expanding range of online modules via our eLearning Academy. For electricians, this means flexible options for learning, whether you’re interested in understanding the electrical requirements of heat pump installations or want to upskill in controls, system commissioning or compliance topics. What makes Grant’s training particularly useful for electricians? Our training focuses on the practical, real-world knowledge needed, especially in relation to air-to-water heat pumps, wiring controls and system integration. We have two fully operational training zones where electricians can see

Why is this training invaluable for electricians right now? The industry is shifting fast. As homes and buildings move to low and zero carbon heating solutions, electricians will be expected to understand how these systems work, how to wire and commission them properly and how to support ongoing maintenance. Our training equips electricians with the knowledge, experience and confidence to meet this growing demand and add more value to their service offerings. Whether you’re looking to grow your skillset or diversify into renewable energy systems, Grant’s training is designed to equip electricians with the tools they need to stay competitive in the industry. firsthand how systems are wired, connected and commissioned. This hands-on approach helps electricians gain confidence in supporting heating installers and even expanding their services into full system commissioning. How does the Grant eLearning Academy support busy electricians? The eLearning Academy is ideal for electricians who want to learn at their own pace or outside of working hours. Our on-demand online sessions cover key topics like wiring heat pumps, understanding load demands, smart controls, and Part L (ROI) and Part F (NI) compliance. There are also guides, articles and case studies that help electricians keep up with industry trends. How does Grant’s training support electricians adapting to renewable technologies? We’ve developed specific courses around the Aerona R290 air-to-water heat pump, which includes training on electrical connections, system controls and compliance requirements. Electricians are critical to the correct installation of these systems, so upskilling here will not only future-proof your career but could also open doors to new work opportunities in the green energy sector.
