Bryce Corp. To Invest $80 Million In Arkansas Plant Memphis, Tennessee-based Bryce Corporation, which offers 10-color conventional and expand- ed gamut flexo printing, will invest $80 million to expand its operations in Searcy, Arkansas. The ex- pansion is part of the company’s five-year strategic growth plan and is expected to grow the company’s asset base, physical footprint and create 142 new jobs in Searcy. As part of this expansion, Bryce will construct a new manufacturing facility and a distribution cen- ter in Searcy. The company will also invest in tech- nology and process equipment to serve its consum- er product company customers. In 1976, Bryce opened its first manufacturing fa- cility in Searcy with 29 employees. Bryce finished 2021 with 465 employees in Searcy. Over that 45- year period, the Searcy manufacturing site has grown from 30,000 to 350,000 square feet. Bryce manufactures packaging products for cus- tomers in the Food, Snack, Pet Care, Household, and Health and Beauty industries. MSU School Of Packaging Plans Renovation Michigan State University’s School of Packaging held a groundbreaking ceremony April 19 to com- memorate the start of renovations to the school’s main building. Hosting the event was School of Packaging Di- rector Matthew Daum, who was appointed in 2020. During that time Daum has pushed for change throughout the school, with the renovations being the first of three phases to initiate that change. “This first strategic initiative is all about investing in a facility that represents the thought leadership of our students and alumni, creates a gathering place for the best and brightest and packaging and inspires students, faculty and staff toward a bright- er future,” Daum said. Planned improvements to the building, which hasn’t been renovated since 1986, include a new of- fice wing, sustainability lab, atrium and classroom. The project was funded primarily through donors, with donations equaling more than $10 million. As for the next phases of the school’s strategic plan, Daum said the second phase will focus on making the “program the most diverse pool of tal- ented faculty and students ready for industry”, and the third will create “new financial partnerships be- tween industry and university”.
