Entry requirements: Students must have, or be expecting, a 2:1 or above (or equivalent for non-UK universities) at Undergraduate level. Applications are welcomed from all disciplines. Strong quantitative skills and some familiarity with Python will be advantageous. If English is not your first language, please note that you must meet a minimum overall standard in a recognised test of English. Why MSc Financial Technology? New for 2025 entry, this course is tailored to give you the capability to utilise new technologies to disrupt and transform the financial industry. Learn to innovate and democratise finance, and accelerate financial inclusion. You’ll first be trained in quantitative methods, data science, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, finance, and information systems. As your knowledge develops, we’ll be encouraging you to evolve your creative mindset by challenging and critically evaluating established paradigms within the field.

Assessment & modules Over three terms you will complete seven compulsory modules, and select two optional modules. Assessment of these modules will vary, and you may be assessed by group presentation, individual assignment, or examination. You’ll then complete the course by choosing one of our capstone modules: either FinTech in Practice, Research Paper or a self-sourced Internship. Students taking the Research Paper route will need to select Research Methods as one of your optional modules. FinTech in Practice This module provides an opportunity to explore a project of practical relevance in financial technology together with the Gillmore Centre for Financial Technology, or one of its industry partners. This will give you the chance to finetune the skills learned on the course in a realistic, situational format. This module involves three trips to The Shard, London. The first two trips are four days each, students will be exposed to presentations of FinTech companies presenting their business models and current challenges. The last trip will be a three-day event where students present their solutions to faculty and industry representatives. Internship This course offers the opportunity to self- source a summer internship, to increase your employability by applying your theoretical learnings to a real-world industry
