Peter & Jayne Smith THE GREATEST SHOWMAN

Ever since their incarnation in 2005, Impossimal creators Peter & Jayne Smith have consistently knocked it out the proverbial, delighting their loyal collectors with some pretty highbrow raising releases. Fans have been able to revel in Sex, Drugs 'n Sausage Rolls (2020), replenish the soul with Jam & Jeroboam (2021) and witness the Smith’s celebrate their 15 year publishing milestone with the delayed (thanks COVID-19), Pick’N’Mix collection late last year. Newsflash! There have been reports that one of these works recently sold at *Sotheby's for nearly £3.6 million, after someone had stapled it to a banana… So what could the peculiar pair have in store for us in 2022? What on earth could these modern-day, undisciplined Impossimal ancestors be getting up to next? Well, as a wise old showman once said, ‘No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else’. It was with these words from P.T. Barnum and his descent into absurdity ringing in their ears that Peter & Jayne Smith created

Peep Show . Comprising seven sinful Impossimal scenes, and inspired by P.T. Barnum’s career of curiosities as the greatest showman of the 19th century, Peep Show focusses on the mass - and often crass - entertainment from the 21st century. Taking his first foray into neon signage (well done for staying bang on trend Peter ), here we see popular alcoholic beverages with adult themes, and a side helping of hidden innuendos, the combination of which means these hand-varnished canvas on board editions are ticking boxes all round! But folks, don’t take my word for it, as hidden somewhere on this very page is a secret code that allows you to unlock and read about how these works really came to be [we had to censor Peter I’m afraid]. We dare you to get your phone out, point it at the page and see what happens!

*Please note we are still waiting to hear whether this is fake news.
