News from our artists

John Myatt John Myatt’s incredible story has been adapted for an upcoming feature-length film. It is also the inspiration for the new Genuine Fakes book, written by his wife, Rosemary, which tells the tale of the ‘charming’ and ‘suave’ Michael Vaughan-Taylor, who forms a cunning plan to fool the art world with forged masterpieces and enlists the help of a talented artist named John Blake. James Francis Gill Van Ham, one of the largest auction houses in Cologne, Germany, recently auctioned one of the Pop artist James Francis Gill’s hand- signed limited edition serigraphs for £12,255, more than four times its original selling price of £3,000 back in 2017. Lawrence Coulson Landscape artist Lawrence Coulson has been working with Alzheimer’s Research UK in honour of his late father. To date, he has raised more than £2,000 through the sales of his ‘Hope and Glory’ artwork. The charity told us: “We’re so grateful to Lawrence. Fantastic and creative fundraising efforts like this will help us to make life-changing research breakthroughs for people with dementia.” Steve Winterburn Three of rugby’s sporting heroes are to be immortalised in a permanent artwork created by the sculptor Steve Winterburn. Billy Boston, Clive Sullivan and Gus Risman – who were the focus of the 2018 BBC documentary The Rugby Codebreakers – will feature in the large-scale sculpture in Cardiff. The artwork is designed to tell their unforgettable stories and express the multicultural community that helped to shape them. Alfie Bowen To mark this year’s World Autism Awareness Day (April 2nd), the photographer Alfie Bowen launched a book signing and exhibition at Africa Alive Zoological Reserve in Suffolk, supported by the Zoological Society of East Anglia and Castle Fine Art. He told us: “Autism awareness is a central pillar to everything that I do – my art, my writing, my activism. I’m determined to change the world for people with autism.”
