Collaborating with Richard has been a singularly rewarding and immensely enjoyable experience - working with talent of his magnitude will only ever be a joy. He is a constant source of fresh ideas, a paragon of hard work and the epitome of an artist who never quite believes or sees the excellence of his own work. For me, Richard’s 15 year anniversary prompts not only a musing over past times shared, but brings a confidence that the next fifteen years will hold equal – if not more – promise than the last. In titling his 2022 collection Impossible Dream, with an accompanying fine art book following suit, Richard’s humility comes squarely to the fore. While his well-earned and most deserved success comes as no surprise to anyone, least of all me or his innumerable collectors across the world, as an artist he still feels the same first flush of passion and gratitude that he did all those years ago. Taking a step back and admiring the work that he has produced for this year leaves no room for discussion about luck when talking about Richard’s dominance within his artistic category, merely merit and the purest of gifts. These paintings are a masterclass in technique and vision, and demonstrate a clear reverence for their subject. Thus, while this indeed might be a dream for Richard, he has shown it is far from impossible.
