FLOWERS
DECEMBER 2020 HIGHLIGHTS
Maintenance – Flowers will be sprayed with pageant fungicide twice in the month of December and fertilized twice with 20 - 20 - 20 for consistent color and growth during the colder temperatures.
Notes:
* December weather can be very mild but can also be cold. Frost is always a possibility. Irrigation should be adjusted to match actual conditions. Avoid planting or pruning frost sensitive plants. If plants are damaged by frost they should be left alone at this time. Removing damaged foliage could make the plant more susceptible to further damage. Areas of turf may turn brown as temperatures decrease. These brown areas are predominantly Bermuda Grass that has gone dormant. Apply rye grass seed and topdressing to these areas. If ice is present on turf do not walk or drive carts on it until ice has melted or damage will occur. Fertilize turf if it begins to yellow. Remove spent blooms on geraniums to promote new blooms. Fertilize flowers as needed.
