Only it’s up to each of us to use that gift of free will. Other- wise free will won’t budge. Finally, let’s include one more way that each of us is strong: God loves us. As the old saying goes, “God is nearer than the nearest, and dearer than the dearest.” Strong You, you can ask God to help you stay spiritually strong. Only that’s just the beginning, and for this good reason: Whether or not your choices in daily life make you strong, rather than stuck? That’s on you. And really, would you have it any other way? In one of my favorite songs, “Beautiful,” Carole King sang back in 1971: You’ve got to get up every morning With a smile in your face And show the world all the love in your heart What’s a worthy version for us living now, during the pandemic?
