ARE WE PREPARING FOR 2025?
I don’t know about you, but autumn is my favorite time of year, hands down. Cool air, college football, pumpkin-flavored muffins, and budgets. You read that right; I said budgets. Now, I know budgeting isn’t quite as much fun as watching your team pull down a game-winning catch in the endzone, but it is still something we can look forward to or at least not completely dread. Thomas Edison, a renowned inventor and businessman, understood the value of planning, famously stating that “Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning.” Budgets are a perfect example of this philosophy. They serve as a road map as we head into the next year, helping us prepare for things we know are coming and offering flexibility to adapt to things we cannot anticipate. At Franklin, we do a lot of research when we start the budgeting process. We review market trends and housing permits to estimate sales. We look at the age of our roofs and asphalt to decide whether or not they need to be repaired or replaced. We work with our mechanics to decide how much life is left in our trucks. We consult with HR to BUDGETING FOR SUCCESS
ensure enough staff will be available when the snow melts. And while we don’t have a crystal ball to know exactly what lies ahead, we can most definitely have a plan.
Similarly, budget planning gives us a sense of control at home. We assess the age and condition of our air conditioner and furnace for potential repairs or replacement. We review the school calendar to plan the best time for a family vacation. We talk with our dentist to decide if the kids will need braces. By looking ahead and planning for the next year, we empower ourselves to be financially prepared for the year ahead. As we look forward to 2025, you may be called on to contribute to our budget planning for the next year. As employee-owners, this is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your unique perspectives and expertise to help us better prepare for the year ahead. Together, we can help ensure we are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that the next year may bring. Our favorite receiver didn’t find his way into the end zone without a plan; likely, a written plan and a set of strategies got him there. He probably even practiced it with his teammates a few times before gameday. The same is true for us. We can’t walk aimlessly into the next year and expect to meet our goals. We must have a written plan. We must coordinate with our teammates. And we must be flexible enough to adjust the plan when something unexpected comes along.
Let’s set our sights on preparing for the year ahead and do the most we can to create our own good fortune in 2025.

HIGH FIVES!
Thank you, Daniel, for your hard work, positive energy, and dedication to keeping us safe. You truly are making a difference every day! Guide From: Cody Huft, Jerome Transfer Yard To: Jackson Theberge, Sawtooth Door Big shoutout to Jackson from Sawtooth Door. He came by our transfer yard and helped us organize the doors we are holding onto. Thanks to his help, we can now find and load the doors quicker, making us that much more efficient. Thanks, brother, it looks awesome back there, and it will be a HUGE help! Wow From: Tyler Honn, Boise CSR To: Steve Meyers, Boise Estimating In preparation to ship a house pack, Steve Meyers saw an issue with a beam during estimating, and together, we found a solution. The customer was very impressed with the detail we put into the estimating process. Good job, Steve, for outstanding customer service. Strive From: Linda Szerwo, Jerome Truss To: Jerome Truss Team I want to give a high five to everyone at the Jerome Truss Plant and the High Desert CSRs. Due to mechanical trouble, the truss plant was without a Gantry Table for over a week. The production staff rolled up their sleeves and did some “old school” building with no complaints or injuries and were able to complete the truss packages. Several others stepped out of their main roles to help wherever help was needed. Our CSRs were accommodating while production shuffled deliveries around to keep the customers satisfied. Great teamwork all around!
Easy From: Jill Flabel, Boise Door and Finish To: Cory Griffith, Boise Door and Finish
I would like to give Cory Griffith a high five for outstanding customer service. He is always willing to help when it comes to solving a problem. Recently, a customer was having an issue with his handle set. Cory went to the hardware shed and found the correct handle set, and the salesman was able to hand deliver it to the job site and make the customer HAPPY! Thank you, Cory, for ALWAYS going the extra mile! Safe From: David Cruz, Caldwell Truss To: Daniel Rodriguez, Caldwell Truss Daniel’s positive attitude, constant willingness to lend a hand, and unwavering commitment to safety have made him a valued member of our team and a role model. As a safety mentor, Daniel actively contributes to our safety meetings, consistently sharing his insights and helping shape the direction of our safety protocols. He has a keen eye for identifying potential hazards and is instrumental in implementing safety changes that keep our team safe every day. Daniel’s leadership in safety isn’t just about talking the talk — he walks the walk. His actions, from conducting thorough safety checks to offering safety tips to new team members, show just how much he cares about the well-being of his coworkers. His proactive approach makes him an incredible asset, and his positive attitude is contagious. We’re fortunate to have someone like Daniel, who excels in his role and makes the workplace safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
Highlighting the Pocatello Window Department
The Pocatello Windows Department has undergone significant changes in the past year. Led by manager Jordan Green, the department has reemerged with a heightened commitment to its customers, striving to deliver the best service in every interaction. Our dedicated team is diligently reorganizing departmental policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Andrew Block, Windows Account Coordinator, acts as a frontline supervisor for the Windows department, handling customer interactions and orders. Marcus Dennison backs him up in the office and is also skilled in window services and general all-around windows. Kris Hudson, a window service technician, is highly experienced in creative solutions and problem-solving window issues. John Rifelj is
and the equipment the team uses. All window orders have been relocated to an offsite windows location, which has been rearranged to accommodate three times the number of windows. The space at the store previously occupied by window orders has been modified to hold area wells, ladders, Boman Kemp windows, and other stock items customers may need to pick up occasionally. A windows service van was ordered and outfitted with Milwaukee Pack-outs and a sliding glass rack for easier access, increased safety, and better storage of service materials out of elements. Lastly, the department created a few new positions that will provide our windows customers with a more present and well- rounded support system. We are very excited about the windows team here in Pocatello. Significant changes have been made, and the future is looking very bright.
our delivery driver and backup service technician alongside the newest addition to the team, Brayden Casper. Over the last year, the team has focused on its power to provide the same level of care and consistency and to follow through with every customer interaction. Changes have been made to both the window areas

SHOUTING OUT THE GREAT WORK WE DO
SEND THOSE HIGH FIVES! to our collective journey toward this vision. As you are working, note opportunities to give a High Five to your fellow employee-owners. Here are the guidelines for each category: Safe — An employee steps up to make a situation or task safer in a notable way. Guide — A teammate goes the extra mile to teach, improve a process, make a handoff go smoothly, problem-solve, collaborate, equip others, or share a good idea between locations. Wow — Catch a colleague going above and beyond to create that wow experience we all want as consumers. When a customer gives feedback about exceptional service, use this category to praise your team so we can all benefit.
If you’ve been with Franklin for any period of time, you’ve undoubtedly heard of our company’s High Five program. Every month, a member of the EO Guide team selects a few of these and showcases them in this newsletter. Supervisors may even share these during their huddles. Some of our roles can feel more thankless than others, and we should always celebrate excellence. A little affirmation never hurt anyone! In 2022, Levi Smith (CEO) rolled out what we know as our 2026 Vision, a road map for Franklin to become a world-class organization by our 50th anniversary. The High Five process is not just a recognition tool but a crucial part of our strategic alignment with the five tenants of this road map: Safe, Guide, Wow, Strive, and the overall goal to Make Building Easy for our customers. Your participation in the High Five program is not just about recognition; it’s about contributing
to stretch our financial performance! This category could include praise for LEAN projects or any time you see a colleague truly embodying employee ownership to improve company profit. Easy — Our overarching goal at Franklin is to make building easy for the customer, and this category is great for a High-Five when you notice several of the above coming into play all at once in a customer-focused way. If you see an opportunity to shout out one of your fellow owners using one of these five lenses, submit your High Five to HighFive@franklinbuildingsupply.com. Put the 2026 Vision keyword in the subject line and tell us a story! We all have jobs to provide for ourselves and the people we care about, but as owners, we also work for the pride of what we are doing and the company we are continuing to build. We know great work is happening, so let’s flood that email with HIGH FIVES!
Strive — Consider how all activities affect our financial performance, make intelligent decisions, and look for opportunities

The Dedication Behind Our Installed Sales Success MEET ALEX EVANS
The best part about Franklin Building Supply? We are one big family that works together toward a common goal: customer satisfaction. Our team members are incredible — we value the dedication, hard work, and positive energy every person brings to the table. Whether they’re helping customers find the right products or ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes, their contributions make a great impact. Alex Evans, our installed sales manager of OHD and Gutter at our Treasure Valley installed division location, works tirelessly for his team and customers, and this makes a difference in our operations. His daily role doesn’t stop at overseeing the garage door and gutter install department — he also ensures our customers are well taken care of by answering product questions and providing quotes. For Alex, it’s all about the people he works with and the customers we serve. “One of my favorite things about my role is how closely I get to work with our customers,” Alex tells us. Alex is a family man. He loves spending time with his family, and get this — his two boys, ages 8 and 3, both have matching mullets! In his free time, he loves fishing, eating, and exploring new things. “One of my favorite things is teaching my boys something new, but above that, I love what they teach me,” he says with pride. Alex, thank you so much for all you do — you are an integral part of our success here at Franklin Building Supply!
