PARTNERED SOLUTIONS. BUILT ON TRUST. GF creates impactful solutions through meaningful collaboration, trusted relationships, and deep expertise. Built environments are rapidly evolving to accommodate the future. At GF, we collaborate with our clients to plan and construct design solutions. We approach each project pragmatically to meet our clients’ needs and treat every project as though we’re an equity partner; this allows us to solve problems and offer solutions that reflect a thorough understanding of our clients’ vision and objectives.
BRANDING IN THE WORKPLACE Current research and practice link strong workplace branding to metrics such as higher productivity, better client confidence and “close rates,” improved staff wellbeing, and greater enthusiasm/engagement. HOW BRANDING BOOSTS PRODUCTIVITY A branded environment reinforces mission, values, and goals visually, which helps employees feel more connected to the organization and their work. Studies on employer and internal branding associate this connection and engagement with around a 20–21% lift in performance and productivity for highly engaged teams. [Gallup] Key mechanisms: Ξ Clear visual cues about priorities and purpose reduce ambiguity and support focus. Ξ Cohesive, aesthetically pleasing spaces (color, art, graphics) are linked to higher quality work and job satisfaction. Ξ Engaged employees are more willing to exert extra effort, which directly improves output. IMPACT ON “CLOSING THE DEAL” Environmental branding shapes the client’s first impression from the lobby to the conference room, signaling professionalism, stability, and clarity of value proposition before anyone presents a slide. Spaces that visually express expertise and confidence make it easier for clients to trust the firm’s ability to deliver, which supports conversion and fee acceptance.
Practical effects: Ξ Consistent, immersive branding encourages client confidence and loyalty and supports word-of-mouth referrals. Ξ Branded spaces help employees show up with more passion and competence in client-facing interactions, which clients respond to favorably. EFFECTS ON STAFF WELLNESS Branding intersects with wellness when it creates a positive, supportive, and human-centered environment rather than just a logo-heavy one. When employees feel valued, recognized, and in a space that reflects care and purpose, wellbeing and motivation increase, and burnout risk drops. Relevant links: Ξ Positive, engaging environments are tied to higher motivation and reduced stress. Ξ Aesthetic and artful workplaces (part of environmental branding) are associated with higher job satisfaction for a large majority of employees. EFFECTS ON ENTHUSIASM AND ENGAGEMENT Internal and employee branding efforts that celebrate achievements, tell the firm’s story, and make culture visible tend to elevate pride and morale. Employees who feel proud of where they work are more likely to advocate for the company and demonstrate discretionary effort.
Examples: Ξ Branded workplaces see higher reported pride and connection to the company, which correlates with higher engagement and enthusiasm. Ξ Strong employer brands drive engagement, and engaged teams are consistently more productive and profitable. DESIGN IMPLICATIONS The most impactful elements of branding in the workplace tend to be: Ξ Branded arrival and client spaces that quickly communicate your design philosophy and reliability.
Ξ Work zones where environmental graphics, color, and messaging support focus, creativity, and recognition of staff work. Ξ Visible articulation of mission, values, and project stories that connect daily tasks to a larger narrative of impact.

understand and interpret that truth in an environment that infuses brand
From the beginning, we’ll discuss branding, and the discussion will bear on and influence design
At GF, we work to create award-winning projects with every design – regardless of the budget. We work to ensure that the client receives the best value for their investment. We understand that our clients have two budgets: the dollars available for design and construction, and the time allotted to get the job done. GF keeps a close eye on both. With GF, you can expect in-depth engagement from project initiation to completion. We’re here to help visualize your “organizational truth” in a physical space that will facilitate the productivity and employee engagement objectives you’ve established. We’re here to help you more fully
and culture into every aspect of the workplace – immediately engaging staff, visitors, and clients and presenting the best representation of organizational values and goals. The process that GF follows is not dissimilar to the process many design firms might follow. It’s what we bring to the process that sets us apart. Beginning with test-fitting, visioning, and programming, we work to understand the corporate culture. We work to develop standards, based on what we’ve learned, to provide a sense of consistency throughout the finished space.
development. More than a logo on a wall, more than a set of corporate colors, branding is that difficult- to-define set of qualities, characteristics, ideals, and other criteria that define an organization and what it stands for. GF works with you to identify the details that tell your “brand story.” From these observations, a palette of colors, textures, finishes, and furniture will be developed to create a space that boldly states the organization’s identity.

G.C. BID REVIEW
We pride ourselves on delivering on-time, on- budget, and with “no surprises.” Using tools such as Revit allows us to provide clients with 3-D views from the very early stages of the project so you won’t have to try to interpret flat representations of your space. And, GF will develop different scenarios to make the way to proceed more clear. GF engages in an inward-facing value engineering throughout the design process. We understand that opportunities for cost savings and schedule management are greatest in the early stages of the project and diminish as work progresses. As a result, emphasis is placed on controlling these aspects during the schematic design and design development phases of a project. At these stages, factors that may adversely affect the cost of a design can be identified and alternative action taken, if necessary.
Cost control and time management are fundamental and continually
the process. GF remains fully engaged at this stage, ensuring
that everything reflected in the construction documents is built to specifications. GF remains highly involved throughout construction administration, advocating for our client and making sure their needs are met. During move in and even post-occupancy, GF provides customer service as needed, perfecting the design, and gathering feedback to make adjustments, as necessary. Our work does not end when the punch list is completed. We’ll be there to assure design, functionality, branding, fit, and finish meet or exceed expectations. Because when all is said and done, it comes down to caring.
monitored. We include value-priced alternatives as we develop the palette. We’re also careful to seek out solutions that will not be bogged down in supply-chain bottlenecks. We want you to “spend wisely” – in your budget and in your schedule. As we develop construction documents, we engage the client in “page turn” sessions. These sessions are high-level but in sufficient depth and detail to be sure that the needs of the project are being met. During this phase GF gathers bids from general contractors, evaluates the proposals submitted, and provides recommendations on general contractor selection. DESCRIPTION Initiating design outside the boundary of Siemen’s new office space allowed the designers to bisect the main entry glass wall with a custom “sculptural word wall feature” that visually pulls visitors into the space. Inspired by key words related to its corporate goals, values, and service commitments and constructed out of medium- density fiber board, using 4 different-height letters, 3 different thicknesses, and 2 finishes (matte and gloss) with Siemen’s corporate Pantone color. Pairing this wall with a warm gray ceramic tile floor, rich green furniture, a classic chandelier centrally located over the seating, and a visually floating reception desk sets the stage for a forward-thinking, cutting-edge company and design.

DESCRIPTION Ambu, the global market leader in single-use endoscopy, including the world’s first single-use bronchoscope, the Ambu® aScope TM , chose GF to create their United States headquarters in Columbia, Maryland. This hybrid office, promoting maximum flexibility, offers an abundance of huddle spaces, phone booths, and open collaboration zones to promote teamwork. A core number of assigned offices are provided, as well as ample “nomadic” workstation seating. Our designers worked diligently to develop a comprehensive understanding of the client’s culture, bringing the Ambu brand to the space through the use of custom graphics and coral and teal corporate colors. A simulation lab was created as part of this “brand-forward” approach. Displaying much of Ambu’s groundbreaking technology for outpatient care, operating theater, and emergency room, the sim lab is integrated into the reception area, through a glass partition. A very low construction cost was achieved through salvage of 80% of lighting fixtures and ceiling tiles from the original space.

TESTIMONIAL “ With our office build-out project complete, I can wholeheartedly endorse the work of GF. Our effort presented a somewhat challenging assignment. We were shifting the team from two floors to one for better cohesion and wanted more options for collaboration with flexible workspace. While we had little change in overall footprint, we wanted to move from a very hierarchical structure to one that was a bit more dynamic, and stay LEED Gold in the process. The team—even those moving from offices to open workspace—are enjoying the outcome! The space works well for us, balancing polish and fun, and conveys the energy that we try to bring to our mission.” Pam Poisson

Here is where Coke meets Washington, therefore, reception areas and conference spaces are designed to highest standard. The design is transparent to promote cultural openness; clean lines and modern/natural finishes act as the perfect background to a blend of vibrant current/historical branding, including an art collection. DESCRIPTION As Constellis looked to consolidate multiple offices across the National Capital Area into one centralized headquarters facility, GF designed over 90,000 SF on 3 floors, including an Executive Suite, roomy and ample open-plan workstations, and private offices ringing each level, with frosted glass fronts allowing sunlight into inner areas. Each floor includes “huddle spaces” – small 4-person conference rooms – as well as phone rooms and spacious break rooms. On the reception level, a Training/Conference Center can function as 3 smaller conference rooms, or can be expanded into one large event space. The designers infused the Constellis brand into the space by taking the company logo – a free- drawn star – and expanding on the angles. The faceted reception desk, open-plenum ceilings, dual-toned carpeting, and acoustical ceilings in the break rooms all leverage the star’s angles. DESCRIPTION mHelpDesk’s CEO requested that the design provide an “office with no boundaries” for the start-up’s new headquarters. Reflecting the company’s casual yet fast- paced culture, its workspace reflects the authenticity of the mHelpDesk brand and steers clear of typical office space design. Our designers avoided placing any physical barriers that would indicate job hierarchy in the space—a design strategy to encourage teaming and creativity among employees. Thus, the space does not have enclosed offices, even for the owner; all design decisions and material selections were made to ensure that this vision was implemented consistently. Because mHelpDesk is a call center, creating an open concept workplace with limited noise pollution was one of the project’s key challenges, which designers overcame through several acoustical absorption techniques.

“ATCC embarked on a design of its corporate administration offices beginning November 2019. This included an open office plan, conference rooms, break areas, private offices and data center. Consistent with our company policy, the project required the cooperation of several contractors, so it was necessary to go through a rigorous, open-bid process. As a result, GF was selected as the best choice. We were particularly impressed by Michael Boyer, as he merged his modern thinking and experience with his highly functional sensitivity to the design features we were hoping to achieve in this project. These features were proposed before the challenges of a global pandemic and evolved to become what ATCC views as even better improvements to house its employees under one roof for optimal company collaboration, safety and health and wellness. Although the project is moving swiftly toward completion, we can state without any reservations that choosing GF was the right fit for ATCC. DESCRIPTION Working with GF, insurance giant Aflac sought to liberate themselves from an existing dark, enclosed space, heavy with traditional furniture and lacking equitable access to daylight across the organization. With a goal of creating a contemporary yet timeless design that would serve them for the term of their 11-year lease, Aflac embraced an industrial vibe, featuring exposed concrete floors and metal-and-glass interior office fronts. To achieve the desired aesthetic for this 5,536 square-foot office, GF’s design team selected a neutral palette of soft whites and greys accented by warm wood tones. Then, the neutral palette was accented with Aflac’s corporate color palette – but still providing the flexibility for those accent colors to change as the brand evolves. The design of the new space focused on creating a balance of public space where Aflac can entertain clients, with private spaces for staff to conduct business. To that end, the reception area and conference room can be combined or divided with the use of a retracting glass wall, allowing the flexibility to host various sized events, delivering on a frequent need of the company. The transparency of the glass wall and the wood slat feature on the ceiling serve to connect the space, both visually and architecturally.
