Service and/or administration may include significant contributions to attaining or maintaining accreditation, as well as meaningful contributions to committees at the departmental, college, university, community, state, regional, national or international levels. Serving in administrative positions in the department is an important contribution and offices held in national organizations indicate greater recognition for contributions to the discipline. The quality of service and/or administration may be judged by soliciting evaluations from the chairs of committees, peers, and the departmental director. PROFESSOR Candidates for appointment, reappointment, or promotion to Professor have fulfilled the expectations described for appointment to Associate Professor. Promotion to Professor is usually not sought until after seven years as an Associate Professor. For initial appointment or promotion to Professor, the candidate must have achieved national and international recognition for a distinguished career exemplifying scholarship, excellence and productivity in the teaching mission, outstanding service and/or administration, successful and productive educational research. Examples of demonstated excellence for appointment or promotion to the rank of Professor include: 1. Teaching excellence as demonstrated by student-directed teachingawards. 2. Leadership roles within the department and college. 3. Recognition as a national resource in his/her discipline or area of expertise. 4. Service and leadership roles on national committees, educational societies, governing board and/or editorial boards. 5. Sustained grant support for education research activities. 6. Achievements in mentoring are evidenced by obtaining federal funding for mentorship, by serving as mentor on others' mentored research grants, by receiving local or national mentorship awards, or by teaching workshops on mentorship, or through letters of support from current or past trainees whom the candidate has mentored. 7. Service and/or administrative contributions include participation efforts to obtain or maintain program accreditation, on committees within the department, college and/or university. REAPPOINTMENT Reappointment at the same rank in the Educator Tenure Track depends upon satisfactory performance and progressive development of expertise in the education, research, and
