WEAVING LOG CABIN

WEAVING INTRODUCTION WORKSHOP

This fall our floor loom class will be exploring color and pattern using Log Cabin, a way to alternate light and dark threads to create patterns of horizontal and vertical lines. Log Cabin uses plain weave but the results are anything but plain. Students will learn how to plan their projects and explore countless opportunities using simple sequences of light and dark threads. Supplies for beginners are included in the registration fee. Intermediate and advanced students should be prepared to bring in their own yarns. All students may use our class supplies if they pay the beginner fee. Learn to weave on a floor loom in this introductory class. On Saturday, choose your yarn, prepare the loom for weaving, and sample weave patterns and colors. Sunday, choose your favorite pattern and weave a table runner, finishing the edges during the class wrap-up. Discussions and demonstrations help you learn terminology, reading patterns, and basic project planning. Supplies are included. Bring Lunch. CREATIVE WRITING (VIRTUAL)

ADVANCED POETRY WORKSHOP (AGES 21+)

If you have aspirations of becoming a writer or are already on your writing journey, this course is designed to help you discover, enhance and/or bolster your inner writer voice and add yet another tool to your arsenal in getting your stories out. Each week, you will be tasked to write a story from the heart as you’ll get to choose from an array of different subjects and prompt ideas. Each student will participate in each class, whether with a written story or feedback for those reading what they’ve written. It will be loads of fun as we paint pictures with words and see the world through each other’s voices.

Four intensive workshop meetings to help serious poets discover the poems only they can write. In- depth instruction, discussions, prompts, and suggestions for revision and publication in the light of contemporary poetry and practice. By Sept. 1st, please send 1-2 poems to mc@tucker.net for opening discussion.
