Bowling with the biggest celebs in town, raising funds for worthy causes, and working with the best clients who continue to trust and support us every step of the way — there are so many things we are thankful for this year at DeWitt Law. From the fun events we hosted and enjoyed alongside you to the successes we shared with clients this Thanksgiving, we are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from the community and our partners. We value giving back, and this year, we were proud to host two major fundraising events supporting two incredible local nonprofits. We’re still chuckling over the jokes from our talented local comedians at the Third Annual Just Call Moe Comedy Jam in September. Thank you to the performers, the Orlando Funny Bone, and the sponsors who made this event possible. We are grateful to everyone who showed up and purchased a ticket. This team effort raised funds for the Yellow Brick Road: The Holden Flynn Foundation. The nonprofit aims to inspire, serve, and support families affected by congenital heart disease. We are honored that we could do something to help them do this vital work. Our Celebrity Bowl-o-Rama in July raised $16,000 for Rosie’s Adventures, a nonprofit that strives to bring joy to children battling cancer. This was our first bowling event, and we are so thankful to everyone who attended and contributed to its success. Special thanks to our celebrity bowlers for sparing their time, DJ Ryan for spinning the tunes, our lane sponsors, and the Oviedo Bowling Center. We’re also incredibly thankful to everyone who supported DeWitt Law by purchasing merch this year. Whether you grabbed a Just Call Moe shirt at a Solar Bears game, a hat at an event, or some of our other gear, your enthusiasm and support go beyond the courtroom and into the community. There’s nothing we love more than spotting a Just Call Moe tank top out in the wild. Every purchase has helped us continue our mission of giving back. A THANKSGIVING THANK‑YOU FROM DEWITT LAW A Toast to You
Along with our fundraising events, we proudly sponsor local podcasts and radio shows like “A Mediocre Time with Tom & Dan,” “The News Junkie, Semantics Podcast,” “Bungalower and The Bus,” “Good Sauce with Rauce & Joel,” and “Scotch & Good Conversation.” It’s a fantastic opportunity to help amplify our local voices for news and entertainment.
One of our favorite events of the year is our annual party for former clients, which we host as a way to say thank you. In the past, we’ve held our big end-of-the-year bash at Fun Spot Amusement Park, and we’re excited to take you to a new venue this December. On Dec. 8, we’re treating former clients like you to a fun day at Gatorland, a wildlife theme park starring Florida’s favorite reptiles.
If you want to join us for the fun this year, RSVP by clicking the QR code on this page.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to each of you this Thanksgiving. Your support, from attending our fundraising events to trusting us to serve you, means the world to us. At DeWitt Law, you are part of our family, and we look forward to celebrating with you in Gatorland in December. (And, special thanks to all the wonderful restaurants that have served me amazing chicken parm all year!)

PERSONAL INJURY - AUTO ACCIDENT - DIVORCE
While ancient Rome may be known for gladiators, grand conquests, and fashionable togas, a surprisingly intricate legal system kept their civilization in line. They had many laws — some familiar, others bizarre — that dictated the everyday lives of millions of Roman citizens, enslaved people, and soldiers across a vast empire. Here are three of the most outrageous and interesting laws Romans enacted as a republic and an empire. Dress Codes and Party Fouls Beginning in around 215 BC, the Roman Republic began instituting what was known as sumptuary laws, which restricted the clothes people could wear, foods they could eat, and the maximum number of attendees at parties. They created these, in part, to reduce the costs of banquets, festivals, and other Roman ragers. Some examples were enacted in 213 BC when it became illegal for women to wear colorful dresses (unless they were celebrating a ritual sacrifice), to wear more than a half ounce of gold, or even to ride around in carriages. However, they soon repealed these laws because they considered them antiquated. ROMAN RULES PECULIAR LAWS OF THE ANCIENT EMPIRE
Shocking Statute Tough luck for those who like hanging out on tall metal poles — if a lightning strike killed someone in Rome, the law forbade families from burying them! This is because Romans believed lightning strikes were divine retribution from the king of the Roman pantheon, Jupiter. See Ya Later, Gladiator! Romans “borrowed” the idea of gladiatorial games from their (conquered) neighbors, wherein people would fight — sometimes to the death — for the public’s amusement and began holding them back in 264 BC. However, because only 3 of every 5 people made it to their 20s at the time, only about 10% of those bouts involved actual fatalities. Many slaves, prisoners of war, and Christian martyrs fought as gladiators in the arena, but if they were already sentenced to execution, they had no hope of survival. One peculiar law involving gladiators was that they would fight until an injured combatant put down his shield and lifted his index finger to ask for mercy. At that point, it would come to an abrupt halt — though the emperor, if in attendance, would make the final decision.
A NIGHT OF FUN AND FUNDRAISING AT THE ORLANDO FUNNY BONE Stand-Up for a Cause
Laughter lit the stage of the Orlando Funny Bone on Sept. 5 for our Third Annual Just Call Moe Comedy Jam! The night was a tremendous success as our stellar lineup of local comedians had the audience in stitches while supporting a worthy cause. The comedy jam showcased some of the area’s most entertaining talent, and thanks to your support, we raised significant funds for the nonprofit Yellow Brick Road: The Holden Flynn Foundation. As the jokes flew and we shared the evening with guests and our community sponsors, it was a testament to how coming together can truly make a difference. Thank you to the over 300 people who came out for this fun evening. Your support will help the Yellow Brick Foundation’s mission of serving families affected by congenital heart disease. We are also so grateful to our superstar comedians like David Jolly from Kill
Tony, Sabrina Ambra from The News Junkie, the always entertaining Donald Evans, the quick-witted Roo Nafasat, the crowd-pleaser Austin Kleeman, and hilarious Ryan Holmes. Our host with the most, Ross McCoy, did an incredible job, as always. This event would not have been possible without our wonderful sponsors, including That Mortgage Guy Don, Happy Home Mortgage, Christensen’s Clockworks, Inc., Orlando Solar Bears, Shingle Masters Roofing & Construction, Pyrospot Fireworks, and Attorney Jacob Stuart. We are thankful to everyone who attended and helped us make this event a success. We look forward to continuing this tradition and can’t wait to hear the punchlines next year! (We’re still chuckling over some of our favorite jokes of the night).

Tips for Effortless Organization
4
Furniture littered with loose knickknacks. Closet shelves devoid of folded clothing. A labyrinthine refrigerator stuffed with an assortment of food and drink, seemingly stocked by a madman. These are the marks of a house in dire need of organization. We always tell ourselves we will get to these things eventually, but we never do. But what if there were a way to make this laborious process seem effortless and natural? Combat laziness and procrastination with these easy organization tips! One Thing at a Time When the task ahead seems too large to complete, it may seem like the easiest course of action is not to attempt it. However, there is a simple solution to this problem — focus your efforts on one area at a time. Whether it’s your messy kitchen after cooking a big family dinner or a cluttered living room after a gameday gathering, start in one place and don’t stop until that area is clean. Working room by room makes cleaning your home much more manageable. Start the Clock If you are struggling to organize your place, it can help to set aside some time on your calendar. Schedule time every day just for cleaning up, which can help you prioritize. Better yet, set a timer for yourself on your phone: No messing around until you’ve spent at least an hour organizing! Planned for Convenience Everyone has a morning routine. Whatever yours is, a simple organization solution can hurry it along. Something as simple as a drawer or a storage container to keep all your toiletries in one convenient place can help you get your day started more efficiently.
