San Pedro Harbor Work A Memorable Day. A few days ago word came from England, a father sending words of appreciation for the service done to his son, which brought to memory an in cident of some weeks past, showing how God does answer prayer and give definite guidance to His own. While crossing the harbor on the ferry, the Spirit seemed to draw attention to one boat, one worker saying to the other, “I believe after service at the chaoel God will give us souls on that boat, we must go there,” although the boat was one of twenty-seven and one of the smallest and hardest to reach. So a few hours later, still conscious of the prompt ing of the Spirit and praver. after futile attempts to do work on two boats we reached that particular one. The first two men met accepted Christ definitely as their Saviour. One was a cabin boy, 15 years of age, who as his father wrote us, left Eng land in order not to be a burden to them in a financial way. After many hard ex periences in his young life, bad treatment on the ship, heartsickness, longing for home and wanting to go home, he little dreamed, nor did his parents, who were in great sorrow over his going away and who knew his bad fortune in a strange land, that on the California coast God would send a special wireless message of His love to his heart. We also learned that afternoon that it was the last trip of the boat to San Pedro, as it was destined to run from San Francisco up the Coast. After supper we went aboard a steamer from Liverpool, the Captain in his excel lent quarters with other visitors, laughed, saying as he gave permission, “Yes, go ahead. If your Gospel will keep them from the whiskey, you are welcome to come up to San Francisco with us. Down in South America a man cut another open with a razor. You don’t know them or you would not want to go to them.” A meeting was arranged. The Gospel with much prayer was presented. A hush came over the many faces in the little place, never was there any better attention paid than by those men, coming as they were, tired and

black, from their long, long journey in front of the boilers, but with a warm, wel coming handshake. God’s Holy Spirit was there and as the invitation was given the second time prayers went up from the workers hearts, and six men professed to accept Christ then and there before the others. So the day closed. The workers left with thanks to God in their hearts and great joy. Will you not pray that God by His Spirit will ever be present in power with them and others, following them wherever they go? Some of Christ’s precious jewels must still be found in such places until He can come. Bible Women’s Notes One of the Bible Women in visitation work went into a home where she found a woman who for various reasons had lost fellowship with the Lord, and who in the course of conversation confessed that due to her carelessness and indifference she was the cause of her husband’s not being a Christian. After much pleading and reading of God’s Word, she finally broke down, with tears, and on their knees together (she and the Bible Woman) she confessed to the Lord her shortcomings and failures, asking for forgiveness and asking for her hus band s conversion. The following week, when the message had been given in one of the shop meetings and the invitation fol lowed. the husband of this woman stood with a number of others, to confess publicly his acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ. Moment by moment-----step by step—is the promise. It was not by chance that the Bible Woman met the little mother on the street corner; nor by chance that they spoke of the young invalid son. When asked if her boy was a Christian, she replied, “Well, no, he isn’t. He has grown up in a Chris tian home and had Christian teaching, but I have never had the courage to have a definite talk with him about his salvation.” Half an hour later, mother, son, little sister and the Bible Woman sat about the stove
