HAWKESBURY | La Ville de Hawkesbury prendra des mesures afin de régler les problèmes liés au stationnement sur la rue Ghislain, au sud de l’Hôpital Général de Hawkesbury. Les gens qui demeurent sur la rue Ghis- lain ont souvent porté plainte aux con- seillers au sujet des visiteurs à l’hôpital qui ne veulent pas payer les frais de sta- tionnement de 3$ de l’HGH. En stationnant sur les rues du quartier, ces gens créent de la congestion. Les ré- sidents veulent que la municipalité règle le problème. «Ça les dérange», a mentionné la con- seillère Johanne Portelance qui a soulevé la question lors d’une assemblée récente du conseil municipal. Elle a ajouté que les automobiles pourraient poser des prob- lèmes pour les ambulances qui doivent circuler dans un espace restreint. Le conseiller Michel Beaulne a men- tionné que la situation, qui dure depuis plusieurs années, sera pire quand la con- struction des nouvelles installations à l’HGH débutera en 2014. Les membres du conseil municipal ont discuté des options, comme la pro- hibition totale de stationnement sur un tronçon de la rue Ghislain à coté de l’HGH. Probe leads to fraud charges against promoter
Harassment charge A 36-year-old North Glengarry man has been charged after Stormont-Dundas- Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a complaint from a woman April 30. Police say that the man continued to contact his ex-wife after being advised not to contact her. He has been charged with, among other things, criminal harass- ment.

This is a particularly busy weekend for off-road vehicle enthusiasts. Every year the O.P.P. encounters off-road users who regard traffic safety as something the O.P.P. is responsible for rather than the operators themselves. This mindset was a significant contribut- ing factor in the 12 fatal off-road vehicle incidents in 2012 (within OPP jurisdiction). OPP S.A.V.E. Team and other OPP officers will be keeping a keen eye out this week- end for operators who are non-compliant with off-road vehicle laws. Over the weekend, the OPP will also be watching for impaired drivers and boaters, people who drive aggressively or distract- ed and those who are in violation of occu- pant restraint laws.

HAWKESBURY | A Ste-Thérèse man has been charged with fraud after several businesses complained about a pro- moter who did not deliver the goods. Pierre-Paul Lalonde, 44, owner of A1 Pro- motions, was arrested by the Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police detachment and charged for a multitude of incidents that occurred in Prescott-Russell and Stormont- Dundas-Glengarry. The detachment had received many complaints about an advertising company that did not deliver on promotional servic- es paid for by businesses. Lalonde has been charged with three counts of fraud. The investigation continues.
