Breeding EVERGREEN Bulls - Status Report I n recent years, we’ve invested heavily in our Embryo Transfer program, using it to combine top male and female genetics and move closer to our goal of producing EVERGREEN CATTLE – uniform, consistent, and balanced bulls. This technology allows us to multiply our most elite cow families, ensuring that the best genetics don’t just influence one or two calves a year, but entire groups of sale bulls that are stamped with the same proven quality alongside the FSC Brand. In this year’s sale, 61 out of 108 bulls (56%) are ET calves, including full brothers from flushes to Compounder (9), Copperhead (9), Essential (7), Freedom (15), Honor (7), YON Flagship (13), and Hometown Hero (1). Having this many full and half-brothers available in one offering provides customers with an opportunity that is both unique and valuable: the ability to select from multiple sons of a proven mating, giving confidence that the genetics will transmit consistently in their own herds. Embryo transfer work not only greatly accelerates our genetic progression, but it also produces a much more uniform calf crop. These ET full brothers are impressively similar to each other phenotypically, and they carry that same balance and predictability in their EPD profiles. We have been thoroughly impressed by the consistency offered here—from birth weight to growth, from structure to carcass merit—and believe our customers will see the same results once these bulls go to work. Beyond this sale, the impact of embryo transfer is shaping the long-term direction of our cow herd. By concentrating superior genetics, we are strengthening the maternal base of our program while also elevating performance and carcass traits. Each flush represents not only a step forward for us, but also for our customers who can confidently invest in bulls that are proven to transmit value year after year. The results of this work are evident in every pen of bulls, and we’re excited to share the progress with you.
