SUMMER 2025 INTERNS
Lyndsey Oetjen, NC State University
David Smith III, NC State Universary
This summer, we were fortunate to welcome two NC State students to the FSC Ranch Team for their summer internships.
Lyndsey Oetjen discovered her passion for animal agriculture in high school, where she honed her skills showing horses and teaching riding lessons. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Management with a minor in Animal Science. Lyndsey’s professional interests include livestock merchandising and beef cattle management. She plans to earn certifications in Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfer, while continuing to grow her expertise in advanced reproductive technologies and sustainable herd management. David Smith III grew up on his family’s cattle ranch in Lexington, NC, gaining firsthand experience in beef production. He is working toward his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Management, with minors in Agricultural Entrepreneurship, Animal Science, Feed Milling, and Economics. David is dedicated to building a career in agriculture, with a strong focus on the beef industry. We are grateful to have talented students from our community choosing to further their education at Fred Smith Company Ranch. It’s inspiring to know these bright, driven individuals are preparing for careers in food and animal production—and will carry that commitment forward to benefit the industry for years to come.
