E-Commerce Sales Up 1.3 Percent In 2nd Quarter The Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced that the estimate of US retail e-commerce sales for the sec- ond quarter of 2024, adjusted for season- al variation, but not for price changes, was $291.6 billion, an increase of 1.3 percent from the first quarter of 2024. Total retail sales for the second quarter of 2024 were estimated at $1,826.9 bil- lion, an increase of 0.5 percent from the first quarter of 2024. The second quarter 2024 e-commerce estimate increased 6.7 percent from the second quarter of 2023 while total retail sales increased 2.1 per- cent in the same period. E-commerce sales in the second quarter of 2024 accounted for 16 percent of total sales. On a not adjusted basis, the estimate of US retail e-commerce sales for the sec- ond quarter of 2024 totaled $282.3 bil- lion, an increase of 5.3 percent from the first quarter of 2023. The second quarter 2024 e-commerce estimate increased 6.6 percent from the second quarter of 2023 while total retail sales increased 1.9 per- cent in the same period. E-commerce sales in the second quarter of 2024 accounted for 15.2 percent of total sales.
