Springbank Park Today Springbank Park’s legacy began 147 years ago when the City of London set aside green space along Commissioners Road West for recreational use by its growing population. Today, Springbank Park continues to be a source of enjoyment for the Byron community and people from all areas of London. With 300 acres of green space filled with trees, bushes, and lush green fields, Springbank Park has something for everyone. Over 10 kilometres of paved pathways for walking, running, cycling, and rollerblading follows the Thames River, circling in and around the many amenities available in the park, which include four mini soccer fields, playgrounds, a wading pool, pavilion, multi-purpose room, bandshell, and picnic sites. This pathway is part of the Thames Valley River Trail that winds through London. There is also 1.3 km of hiking trails to be found in the park. Springbank Park also has a skateboard park located near the West Entrance, which is designed for all levels of skaters and features several high-quality elements to challenge the “steez” of any skateboarder. Of course, there is the venerable Storybook Gardens open all year round with its concession stand and attractions for all ages to enjoy. During the winter, Storybook Gardens adds an outdoor skate trail to its magical experience. Besides the recreational amenities in the park, Springbank’s roadways are well-used for charity events. The City partners with neighbourhood groups to host the ever-popular Movies in It’s Terry Fox Campaign Time The annual Terry Fox Bottle/Can drive takes place on September 7, 2024, at Kellogg’s Lane from 9 am to 1 pm. We believe we are helping to save lives, including our own family members. Terry did not give up and neither will we, No Matter What!” Peggy Anne Endean, Terry Fox Run Organizer
