7. 2l/ha Crystal + 3l/ha Defy 8. 2l/ha Crystal + 2l/ha Tower
All treatments randomised and replicated 4 times across the trial with and without 15kg/ha Avadex

Protocol ➢ Evaluate efficacy of Avadex ➢ Look at pre-emergence herbicide options in spring barley ➢ Ascertain the most effective Avadex and pre-emergence combination ➢ Compare flufenacet, PDM and prosulfocarb loadings ➢ Fully randomised and replicated block design trial ➢ Plant counts conducted before canopy closure
Conclusions ➢ Best pre-emergence option is treatment 7 ➢ Avadex provides >20% uplift in population control ➢ Autumn population of 300 plants/m2, untreated spring population of 150 plants/m2, treated spring population 57 plants/m2 ➢ Data was very statistically significant P value <0.05
