A LABOR DAY SHOUTOUT TO BLG ENVIRONMENTAL’S WORKERS Thank You, BLG Team!
Labor Day is usually the unofficial end of summer, but as a business owner, Labor Day takes on a deeper meaning. The holiday is meant to celebrate the American labor movement, which helped create rights for workers that are still in place today. While that is certainly worth celebrating, for me, Labor Day serves as a reminder of just how lucky I am to have the team that I do serving clients at BLG Environmental Services.
Next, I want to recognize my main manager, Danny. I’ve known Danny for over 40 years because we grew up together. Coincidentally, Danny went into the landscaping business after school, but we lost touch. Nearly a decade ago, our paths crossed again, and it was perfect timing: Danny was looking for a change, and I needed a manager. Danny has been with BLG Environmental for seven years now, and it has always been a great fit.
I’ve been in the landscaping business for 24 years (and studied it for longer). I know what it takes to create beautiful, functional landscapes our clients and community can be proud of. And doing so in the Florida heat is no easy chore! But if you read our testimonials, many of our clients mention more than just the result of our work. I’m proud to say that many of the thank you notes, reviews, and compliments we get are about our team at BLG Environmental. Every staff member at our company is fundamental to the work we do. This month, I want to publicly thank two employees who have gone above and beyond what any business owner could want.
Speaking of testimonials, many of our reviews mention Danny by name! As a manager, Danny could easily work in the background to ensure our team meets client needs, but Danny remains hands-on. Our clients appreciate his attentiveness to their questions or concerns. Above all, Danny has a great attitude. He sets the tone for

our team at BLG Environmental Services, which empowers us to keep doing the best work possible for our clients.
Without Nestor, Danny, and the rest of the BLG Environmental Services family, I wouldn’t be able to
pursue my dream of working in the landscaping business. This company wouldn’t exist without these hardworking employees and their dedication to our clients’ needs. This is a physically demanding job, especially in the Florida sun. But no matter how difficult or complex the job is, I know my team will do their very best.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Nestor first. Nestor has worked at BLG Environmental Services for 12 years and is still one of our team’s hardest- working employees. Nestor brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to every job site. For more than a decade, he has put more than hard work into each job he is given; Nestor cares about our clients and the work we do. It’s safe to say he has become more like family than an employee — so much so that Nestor’s son now works at BLG Environmental Services! We’re happy to have them both.

I recently discovered a surprising passion for plant propagation. What started as a request from my parents to help with their small nursery business has blossomed into a true love for the art of growing new plants from cuttings. When my parents first asked me to get involved, I was curious but unsure. They patiently taught me the technique — how to take the right cuttings, prepare the soil, and nurture the new growth. It was like magic watching these tiny pieces of greenery transform into thriving plants. Now, I proudly call myself the “Propagation Prince” of our 40-acre family farm! My parents have tasked me with leading all our propagation projects, and I’ve developed attention to detail in the growing process and a keen eye for spotting the perfect cuttings. One of the most rewarding parts of propagation is seeing the final results. Watching the cuttings I carefully tended blossom into vibrant, healthy plants is really satisfying. It’s a reminder that you can make amazing things happen with the right care and effort. And the best part? My parents let me keep some of the profits from the plants I propagate. At 10 years old, I have my own money and the freedom to save or spend it as I choose. Financial independence is pretty sweet! The Propagation Prince GAVIN’S GUYS
As I look to the future, I can’t help but wonder where this passion will lead. Maybe I’ll take over the family nursery business someday. Or maybe I’ll use my green thumb to pursue a career in gardening or environmental science. Whatever path I choose, I know the skills and experience I’m gaining now will be valuable.
For now, I’m focused on perfecting my propagation techniques and enjoying the process. There’s something magical about watching new life spring forth from a single cutting. It’s a reminder that amazing things can happen with a little care and attention. And as the “Propagation Prince,” I’m excited to be a part of that journey.

The Joy of Apple Picking
Most of the apples you find in stores are ripening now, making September prime apple-picking season! When green apples begin to turn yellow and red apples brighten in color, they are ready to be gathered up. If you are looking for a great excuse to get out in nature with your family or just hankering for some fresh produce, then apple picking is the thing for you. Orchards all over the country have a you-pick season so you can bring home your own fresh apples. Here is how to get in on the apple-picking trend right now! How do you like them apples? If you and your kids aren’t paying to pick apples, and you don’t have the owner’s permission, that’s stealing. If you (or someone else) pay your kids to pick apples, that is child labor, which is, sadly, also illegal. Kidding aside, for the most part, to pick apples at an orchard, you must pay for the privilege. Orchards all across the country have different varieties of apples ripening all the time. Whether you’re in Maine, Michigan, California, or somewhere in between, you are likely ready to go on an apple-picking frenzy with family! APPLE PICKING WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY Baskets of Fun
Enjoy the fruits of your labor. After a long day of picking apples and making memories, you need a place to put them. Sure, if you want to dig into your apples right away, a bowl on the counter is fine. But if you want to store these apples for safekeeping (or making pie, apple crisp, apple sauce, or myriad other things), keep them somewhere nice and cool, like a refrigerator. If you keep your apples cool, they’ll stay good for weeks, ensuring you can enjoy the fruits of your labor all month!
