been giving a most helpful and inspir ing series of Monday afternoon Bible studies. The Tuesday evening service conducted by Dr. Lyon is largely at-- tended, and Miss Rouzee’s class on Thursday afternoons at 3:00 o’clock has a large and enthusiastic attendance. The “ Etri Club” (a club for young women similar to the Lyceum Club) under the capable leadership and inspi ration of Miss Myrtle Scott, is growing and great spiritual results are manifest. The splendid attendance at the Noon Hour Bible Study and Prayer service is another cheering part of the work. The prayers of all God’s dear people are earnestly requested for this work and for the workers. & SPANISH WORK R o b e rt H . B ender, Superintendent This includes Gospel meetings, Sunday School classes and house-torhouse visita tion among the fifty thousand Spanish speaking people in Los Angeles and vicin ity.'- “ Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word.” H HILE we have been laid aside during the past three or four weeks, it has been a consola tion to us to know that the work among the Mexicans has been cared for by the students of the Bible Institute who have been assigned to this department, and the Lord has richly blessed their service In giving some twelve professed conver sions. Then it was a source of great comfort to receive word from those who had accepted the message and who are now in other states helping in spreading the Gospel to their fellow- men. Thus they were fulfilling the Scripture just quoted. Letter From Mexican Believer The following Is the translation of a letter received from a Mexican believer who is working in the mines in Ari zona : “ I salute you attentively and ask you to do me a favor to send me some literature. I came here from Los An geles a month ■ago and I am talking some about the Bible, but as I haven’t had much practice, I neèd some book lets and tracts in order to distribute the Word of God among those that con gregate to hear the Gospel. Dear Brother, the Lord bless you and all the . brethren that preach the Holy Word.” .¿1&. afc

Another young Mexican convert who went to Kansas came in contact with a returned missionary from Mexico. She wrote that a Don Roberts of Los An geles visited the camps and was con verted. She said that he was her right- hand man in dealing with the Mexicans there. Then word was received later that he had been baptized and was leaving there, his heart’s desire being that he might return to Los Angeles and enter the Bible Institute to prepare himself for missionary work among his people. This is an opportunity for some reader to make an investment for the Lord by sending this fine young man through the Bible Institute. We covet him for the Lord’s work. The Fruit Remains We praise God that He said, “ Your •fruit should remain.” Here are some of the evidences, for these converted Mexicans go out, not only into different parts of the United States, but to Mexi co, giving good testimony. Who would dare to say that it is a poor investment to give to this work among the Mexicans? We covet your prayers for this work, that God may raise up more helpers to do even larger things for Him. DR. OLIVER’S WORK H AVING been personally inter ested in the religious life of San Francisco f o r nearly twenty-five years, I was much delighted to know that some earnest young men have taken over an upstairs hall right in the heart of the city, 1065 Market Street, where a def inite Gospel work is being carried on, based on a clear-cut evangelical state ment of doctrine. The director of thiB work, Rev. W. E. Pietsch, came down to plan for a Conference a few months ago. I went to San Francisco and be gan the Conference, but on account of influenza had to cancel the work right at the time' when the tide of interest was rising and the people were begin ning to come in encouraging numbers San Francisco, with over six hundred thousand people within her borders, has less than eighteen thousand mem bers of evangelical churches, and some of these churches are absolutely de structive in their positions, theologi cally speaking. One pastor is quoted as having said: “ There are twelve gates to heaven. One for the Unitar-
