T H E K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S Christ these days! What a jo y to see His w onder-w orking power in the hearts and lives of these people!" J. W. Rodman writes from La Victoria, Venezuela: “ The w ork here in La V ic toria is taking o n ' larger proportions. In spite of distracting influences the p e o -‘ pie come out. and the Lord is revealing His truth and H is Son b y the preaching of the W ord of God." Mr. Rodman has suffered a partial breakdown in health and asks for prayer for physical strength and spiritual power. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sickle write from Huinca, Renanco, Argentina: “W e are lookin g forward to our conference here in Huinca, February 9-12. W e 'a re expecting the Mennohite Brethren as well as the Missionary Alliance, to join with us. We are expecting Mr. and Mrs. D. Parke Lantz to come too. They have been so close to us all this time and yet we have not seen them. And o f course we are look in g forward to that, too, as we are the old ones of the Bible Institute fam ily here." Mr. and Mrs. Don Turner and Miss Roe W illiams write of their arrival and w el come at Carupano, Venezuela, and o f the blessed times of fellow ship w ith the Van Eddings’, as well as of persecution under gone. The Christians there are called the despised and rejected ones and are utterly cast out by their families. J. B. L. Litchman, ’17, writes from the Belgian Congo: “ The Lord is w orkin g amongst us. Pray that God may start a revival in my heart and then among my people of which there are about 50,000 within a radius o f 20 miles each way and only about a thousand or so have heard the Gospel. Have from 100 to 150 people in school every day. Praise God for the privilege of m inistering to them." Harry P. Herdman writes o f his w ork in A frica: “God is blessing and prospering us on the field and for that very reason Satan is terrible in his vindictiveness and enmity. This tribe where I am now is a hard one to reach. The ' people are a cattle people. Being rich and increased with goods, they are proud and feel they have no need of anything. There have been some conversions and some wonder ful workers have developed.” Ezra Roth writes o f his w ork in Lichow, Honan Province, China, telling o f a Bible study meeting conducted somewhat along the lines o f the Fishermen Club meetings, and of a street chapel which is a sort of Biola Hall affair. There is in the city a Chinese young men’s school with over two hundred students, a number of whom are com ing to the meetings. Mr. Roth is especially interested in these young men. Miss Pearl Weeks, ’13, who is w orking in an institution for the blind, at Kow loon, China, w rites: “ The Lord is very real to me and but for H is grace I would indeed be in absolute confusion. I am placed in what is recognized as a Very difficult work, and still it hàs nôt been difficult in one way for I simply realize that I am entirely unequal to it and call for help at every step of the way and I never call in vain. Oh, spch a wonderful Savior is ours!" Miss Mary Kolachny,' and Miss Edith Harris, ’16, write of •their jo y in being allowed to work at the same station, in-

Kijabe, K. C., Africa, Miss Harris in hos pital w ork and Miss K olachny in ' the native girls’ home and the native school. Miss Kolachny says: “ For many months I have had a grow in g desire to be ^.ble to go into native work, but because the call was so strong to go to the whites I have never mentioned it to anyone and yet God answered the desire of my heart. This w ill be my first opportunity to give myself over to the language and I do entreat you to pray that I shall get it, now that I shall have the chance to put it into practice." Mr. and Mrs. Albert Siegle, w rite frorm Bangkok, Siam: “We are both enjoying the w ork and pegging away at the Chinese language. The need of more w orkers is certainly very great and when more workers are. found for both our Siamese and Chinese schools, then it w ill release me and two others for strictly evangelis tic work. However, at present we have the opportunity each day to teach the W ord to the boys and girls o f our schools.” Miss Josephine Jacobson, ’13, writes from Nanking, China: “I have had some m ighty blessed times since I came to Nanking. The Women’s Union Prayer Meeting is a real power and I believe I have felt the presence and power o f the Lord there more than anywhere else in Nanking. The w ork at the language school is getting more and more interest in g and I am learning to love the Chinese •as I never thouglit I could love them. They are very interesting and one’s heart ju st reaches out to them.” Ralph C. Scoville, Tsinchow, Kansu, China, writes of real blessing received through serious illness from typhus fever, and continues: “ I have hardly been here three y.ears yet and now I can say to His glory that I have a fair know ledge of this difficult language, and by His Spirit's power can preach deliverance to the cap tives. I find the people are hard-hearted and are not w aiting with open hearts to hear the Gospel as one would think after hearing a returned missionary speak, but one must almost compel them to come in. In a few weeks’ time I expect to take up the w ork in another centre and I will covet your further prayers on dur behalf." WORK OUT THE PLAN! One small life in God’s great plan—^ ’ How futile it seems as the ages roll, Do what it may or strive how it can To alter the sweep of the infinite whole! A single stitch in the endless web, A drop in the ocean’s flow or ebb; But the pattern is rent where the stitch is lost, Or marred where the tangled threads have crossed; And each life that fails of true intent Mars the perfect plan that its Master meant.
