Davidic line? Where did the words come from that Jeremiah spoke to Baruch? How many words was Jere­ miah commanded to write? About what three classes was he commanded to write? What was the purpose of his writing these words? Was this ver­ bal inspiration? That is, did God give Jeremiah the words or the ideas, for Baruch to write? Did the first reading of the roll seem to foster repentance because Jehoiakim proclaimed a fast? Who rejected this message of Jehovah in writing, the people or the religious and civil rulers? Who are rejecting today the written Word of God, the Bible? . Did they study the roll as a whole before beginning its penknife de­ struction? 'Have the destructive critics studied the Bible reverently and as a whole before they condemned certain portions of it? Are not the modernists using the penknife method today in taking away certain parts of the Scrip­ tures? Whose writings have stood the test of time, those of Jehudi, Elishama and Michaiah, or those of Jeremiah? Will people read the writings of Spi­ noza, Wellhausen, Eichhorn, Driver, Briggs, and Shailer Mathews, two thousand years from now; or those of Paul and Peter, John, Beza, Bengel, Tischendorf and many others of that Godly, reverent class who believe the Bible is the Word of God and obey it? PROPHETIC QUESTIONS Did Jeremiah say some definite events would come to pass? Would the king of Babylon come and destroy the city? Did he come three years later? Was Jehoiakim never to have one of his offspring sit upon David’s throne? Was the king to be killed? Was the king’s dead body to be cast out? Davis’ Bible Dictionary says, “ The purpose of carry­ ing him (Jehoiakim) to Babylon was, however, abandoned. He died or was murdered, and his body had the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gâtés of Jerusalem.”

v. 29. Thou bast burned this roll. Though the attempts of those who de­ spise the Word of God are very daring, yet not one tittle of it shall fail.
