PERSONAL TRAINING

September 23rd at 1:00 p.m. Sign up at the front desk! Weight Room 101 includes weight room orientation, specific instruction on upper and lower body exercises, and cardiovascular training tips. Instruction and guidance on how to properly train your entire body safely and effectively will help participants gain muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. For safety purposes, this class is limited to 10 participants. Please register in advance at the front desk. Closed-toe footwear is required.

Are you looking to take your overall health and wellness to the next level? Sign up today for a personal training session with one of our experienced and certified personal trainers. Cost is only $82 for a one-hour session for members / $103 for a one-hour session for non-members. Ginger Brien: Mondays from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Fridays from 10:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. Saturdays 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Free Blood Pressure Check- Sanibel Fire District The Sanibel Fire District has teamed up with the Sanibel Recreation Center to offer a complimentary blood pressure screening on September 23rd between 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the Sanibel Recreation Center lobby.

MARTIAL ARTS

Are you interested in learning Martial Arts? Martial Arts helps practice balance, build structure, and boost confidence. Register today for group lessons with Sensei Gary Thomas, available to all ages. Lessons are held for 12 and under on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. as well as Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. 13+ Martial Arts are held on Tuesday and Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. as well as Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Lessons are paid monthly at a rate of $100 member and $125 non-member. Family Rate! Families with more than 3 people participating in martial arts will be charged $250 for the whole family.

RESIDENTIAL HURRICANE PASSES STARTING SEPTEMBER 9TH

Alongside the Sanibel Police Department, the Sanibel Recreation Center will now be a secondary location for issuing Residential Hurricane Passes. This effort aims to enhance convenience and accessibility to passes within the community. Passes may be picked up at the Sanibel Recreation Center during operating hours: Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.; Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Permits are still being issued at the Sanibel Police Department, 800 Dunlop Rd. Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The RESIDENTIAL (Green) Permit is for residents and property owners on Sanibel or Captiva and can be obtained with a valid ID with your Sanibel or Captiva address or a valid ID with another proof of residence (listed on application). To apply for a re-entry permit, click here and fill out the downloadable application. Email the completed form along with the required documentation to hurricanepass@mysanibel.com. and the permit will be mailed out once the application is processed. You may also bring the completed form to the Sanibel Police Department at City Hall or The Sanibel Recreation Center.

RECREATION CENTER GYMNASIUM UPDATE The gymnasium floor is scheduled for additional post- hurricane Ian work starting the week of September 16th. The work is anticipated to last approximately 35 days. If the project runs on schedule, the gymnasium should reopen before the end of October. We know many of you have missed this amenity! Your ongoing patience is greatly appreciated. We cannot wait to resume our indoor pick-up pickleball, basketball, youth activities, fitness classes and more in our gymnasium!
