— people who were sinners and des­ perately in need of His grace. On many occasions, the Scriptures tell us, Christ was found in the homes of these people, teaching them of Him­ self. Q. What pattern should a Home Bi­ ble Class follow? A. Those with much experience in such classes emphasize three char­ acteristics of an effective class: 1. They must be community-cen­ tered. If you want to reach peo­ ple of varying economic status, you must have a class in the sec­ tion of the city where these peo­ ple live. They will not travel across town to a Home Bible Class with people in different so­ cial or economic strata. 2. They must be home-centered. Many people who refuse to go to church will come to a class that meets in a friend’s home. Home Bible classes capitalize on the in­ formality and hospitality of a home atmosphere to attract peo­ ple to the Gospel. 3. They must be evangelism-cen­ tered. The purpose of such a class should not be another Bible study for Christians. They should be geared for the unsaved, as a

means of reach ing them for Christ. The person who does find Christ in such a group will feel that here is a place where he can bring his unsaved friends to acquaint them with his new-found faith. Q. I f evangelism is the major thrust, should an invitation be given in a Home Bible Class? A. Many feel that it is best not to give an invitation in the class in order to omit any tactics of undue pressure. This evangelism is long- ranged in the sense that no short cut to evangelism is sought. It takes time to win some people to Christ. As people come week after week, it gives the Spirit of God the oppor­ tunity to do a continuing work in their hearts. Many will indicate their readiness for salvation through the questions they ask. Q. What should be the relationship of a Home Bible Class to the local church? A. It is good if the local church will sponsor such a program as a part of its own evangelistic outreach. Many church members have a concern for the lost, but they are not doing any-
