B. L. L itchman, ’17, w rites from his station in Congo Beige, A frica: “Today I am here a t Linga station to spend Sunday w ith my people. I had 57 in th e service— not bad for an outstation. Linga is n o t occupied by a White m is sionary hu t is under my direction, and I ru n it from R ethi station. We have about 50 people living on th é station, working and going to school. The work is in charge of a native teacher. “Together w ith Linga station we have ten outschools, w ith 18 teachers and helpers, who reach about 500 peo ple every day, and have about 1000 communicants, w ith a constituency of over 10,000 people in the villages th â t the native teachers cover. “ Considering the little atten tion the teachers have had from white mission aries, progress is being made, and peo ple are learning of the Man. who died for them . In a few more months most of these villages will be reachable by motorcycle, m otorcar or bicycle, as we are having a road bu ilt by our sta tions. P rogress has been made in th is

te rrito ry in the last two years, both spiritually and politically.” Miss Z arra Hoon, *21, w rites from Rawalpindi, Punjab, India: “The ma jo rity of Indian women cannot read) even in th e ir own language. Among non-Christians th is fact is a t once a handicap and an opportunity for our work, among them . Their life is so narrow , lived in illiteracy behind bar red windows and closed doors in the strict purdah of th e ir own homes— th ere is very little to b reak th e monot ony of the long day. God has opened to us many such homes where we can read and teach His Word, the Bible, in th e ir own language, and tell them of the one and only way to God by the Savior, our Lord Jesu s Christ, ‘who died for our sins, was buried, rose again.’ It is a very g rea t privilege to tell th is good news to a person for the first time. Often th ere are tears in th e ir eyes as they grasp its wonderful meaning. Many seem to believe in th e ir hearts, h u t fear to come out

openly as Christians. It almost takes the courage and faith of a m atu re Christian to take th e first step in open ly confessing Christ— it means such suffering and persecution— even to death in some instances. Much prayer is needed for Ind ia’s m issionaries and Christians, and also non-Christians. F o r the m issionaries and Indian church, because God’s power alone can keep us in these ‘perilous tim es.’ Satan is so subtle, and ju st now prayer is greatly needed again st Satan as an ‘angel of lig h t’ in our m idst, in an erro r th a t is rapidly spreading.”

Miss Mabel Jo rd an , ’20, w rites from Siam: “W ith 200 boarding pupils th ere is g reat opportunity to try to win them to C h rist.. I am so happy to have charge of th e singing in the school, and also one class in English. W ith th e teachers, K ing’s Daughters on Sunday morning, and prayers w ith the oldest group of girls every evening th ere is a chance to do personal work. A SPLENDID CONTINUED STORY by Jose phine H ope Westervelt, entitled “Fine Gold” , of intense and gripping interest and deep spiritual import. “ IS THE BIBLE THE WORD OF GOD ?” will be discussed each month by Dr. F. E. Marsh, the well known Bible Teacher, Author, and Editor of “The Prophetic Witness,” of Lon don. This series of articles alone will be worth much more than the subscription price of the magazine to any believer who desires to be fully fortified in the fight in defense of the faith. First installment in this issue. THE SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON HELPS (bo th International and Whole Bible) are issued in the form of a Quarterly Supplement, which will accommodate subscribers who wish to use the lesson helps for study and class work, without depriving other members of the family of the magazine section. The one sub scription price of $1.25 covers bo th Magazine and Sunday School Sections.

TH E CHILDREN’S G A R D E N page is so arranged that it can b e detached from the magazine and folded into a “Junior King’s Business” by the children and, if desired, at the end of the year bound into an attractive little book. We are sure this will please the hundreds of “Gardeners,” who are such an important p a rt of the family. THE MOST CONSISTENT AND CONSTRUC TIVE METHOD for teachers and preachers is to take some one book of the Bible and go through it systematically and consecutively. In this way every doctrinal subject is covered just as presented, and you cannot be accused of going out of the way to present your own opinions. We have used this method for many years and find that it is the most attractive and efficient in securing regular attendance, and most helpful in producing practical results. WE BEGIN IN THIS ISSUE a STUDY of the EPISTLE of JUDE— that book so full of warnings, and especially appropriate for these days in which we live. This series of BOOK STUDIES will continue throughout the year.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ESTIMATE the BLESSED RESULTS that MAY COME from INTERESTING OTHERS in THE KING’S BUSINESS. LET US REMIND YOU of the TESTIMONY of the TRAVELING MAN in the JULY ISSUE, who AFTER READING IT for the FIRST TIME immediately SECURED 24 SUBSCRIP TIONS from HIS FRIENDS, and who is STILL ON the JOB
