staff appreciation week to a year-round program, recognizing and celebrating the hard work of SHA’s educators, staff, and administration. The dynamic duo also initiated opportunities for parents to connect including socials and events throughout the year such as Holiday Wreath Making and Terrarium Making workshops. “We are grateful for Kara and Nicole’s vision, dedication, and willingness to roll up their sleeves and get to work,” said Head of School Carla Jantos MacMullen. “Their tenure at the helm of the Parents’ Association has been pivotal in fundraising, strengthening community ties, and creating meaningful memories for our students. We are pleased to honor them with the Goal IV: Building of Community Award.”
Goal IV: Building Community Award Presented to Kara Albanese P'23 and Nicole Thomas P'31 At this year’s Spring Classic Golf Outing, SHA was pleased to announce the recipients of the inaugural Goal IV: Building of Community Award: Kara Albanese P‘23 and Nicole Thomas P’31 (pictured right to left). The two have been dedicated members of the SHA Parents’ Association for years and served on the Executive Board in the 2022-2023 academic year.
“Kara and Nicole worked tirelessly leading the Parents’ Association,” said Alumnae Coordinator Suzanne Santora Robinson '76 P'06. “They have been active in numerous fundraising initiatives, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the school. They played a huge role in special events for the students and faculty, fostering

strong community pride.” Among many initiatives, Kara and Nicole were instrumental in raising funds to beautify and expand campus spaces, including the purchase of Adirondack chairs for outdoor classes during COVID, beanbag chairs for students to relax and read, and replacement furniture for the Mansion patio, used primarily for community building. Kara and Nicole were also the backbone of new programs including the expansion of the on-campus SHA Heartcoming Fun Fair to include current families along with alumnae. They coordinated a Halloween Trunk or Treat event with the Class of 2023 and Lower School students, launched a college care package program, and expanded the annual faculty and
staff member for their indelible impact on the community. The Parents’ Association was proud to present the award to Mr. Shuler in deep appreciation of his enthusiasm, contagious positivity, and his genuine confidence in his students in the classroom, the corridors, and on the court. Mr. Shuler truly embodies the spirit of Janet Erskine Stuart as an educator and role model to the Sacred Heart community.
