" I will not believe . . ." 20:24-29) H e r e in th is last chapter of the Gospel of John we have a very human encoun ter. A disciple by the name of Thomas knew all about the claims of Jesus Christ. But he didn’t believe them. The test came when Christ appeared to the disciples after His resurrec tion. “ But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, W e have seen the ord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put m y finger into the print of the nails, and thrust m y hand into his side, I w ill not believe. And after eight days again his dis ciples were within, and Thom as with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Beach hither thy fin ger, and behold m y hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into m y side; and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, M y Lord and m y God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” I like Thomas. He was hon est. He had doubts and he ex pressed them. But with all his doubts he was fu lly w illing to believe. And that makes all the difference. Just be w illing to believe. If you are w illing God will meet you right where you are. And when you encounter H im you hear H im say, “ Bless ed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” A person can ask for little more than this. END.
