If anyone in your group seeks a more intensive Premium Experience, register in advance for VIP Tours of the drive-through safari, Toddler Tours at the petting zoo, or painting sessions resulting in take-home works of art created by crafty giraffes or macaws. Whatever you do, don’t miss the quick climb upward to the elevated wooden Giraffe Feeding Encounter. You can expect a friendly giraffe to amble over and greet you face to face while she waits for a crispy snack. If you and yours wish to hand-feed an eager giraffe, approved leafy greens are available for purchase at the station. Are you traveling with lively kids or are you simply young at heart? As a perfect action- packed conclusion to a sunny South Florida field trip, try cooling down at the sprawling waterpark complex. Located on the outskirts of Adventure Park, it features Safari Splash, an extensive interactive water-spray zone and Safari Falls, a colorful aquatic playground built within a true-blue wading pool. A curvy waterslide and a landlocked classic Fun Slide with burlap bag seating round out the rec area activities. The refreshing water play center is just one more amazing highlight of a wild and wonderful day at Lion Country Safari.

As your self-paced drive comes to a close, be sure to search for graceful giraffes strolling by. They are members of one of the largest bands of giraffes in the U.S. If it’s feeding time, you might see a jumble of giraffes dining together– lots of brown spots, gyrating tongues, and spindly legs. Side by side, they stretch their long necks, munching leafy branches at an elevated feeding station. After your wildlife drive, Lion Country continues at Safari World’s walkable 55-acre Adventure Park. If you decide to revisit the drive-through preserve later in the same day, you are welcome to do so free of charge. Plan to spend three or four hours in the walk- through part of the park. Safari World boasts shady tropical landscapes and more animal exhibits housing the likes of squirrel monkeys, pink flamingos, macaws, and Burmese pythons. You can board the Safari Queen for a quick spin around Lake Shanalee or hop onto the Rio Grande train for a chug-a-chug around the track. Attend narrated presentations to learn about giraffe training, specific animal habitats, or special talents of resident creatures. Topics are always changing. There’s so much to learn. Consider challenging your companions to a round of vintage mini golf or enjoy a photo op on the deeply shaded paths of the Dinosaur Garden. Lion Country’s menu of child-oriented options includes (among many delights) straddling a lion on the colorful carousel, meeting and greeting Petting Zoo critters, and panning for shiny gems and fossils (nominal fee).
