Through a collaborative effort MCPA, the University of Mississippi, and the Releaf App are cooperating from the launch of the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program to gather anonymous, patient-generated outcome data for research on the safety and efficacy of medical cannabis. You can help us generate research data that will inform health professionals, legislators, policymakers, and the world about how medical cannabis can be safely and effectively used to manage debilitating diseases and reduce healthcare costs for Mississippians.
How does this research program benefit Mississippi’s patients?
Your personal outcome tracking will give you better insights on your use of medical cannabis for example, what products work best for your medical conditions saving time and money through less trial and error. You will also be helping to pioneer a new era where aggregate data can be mined for the benefit of other patients.

Medical cannabis testing helps to ensure a safe and reliable supply of cannabis of known purity and potency. Tested product offers patients reduced risk of exposures to heavy metals, pesticides, bacteria and mold. Steep Hill Mississippi is a Mississippi-based business that licenses the Steep Hill name and testing methodologies from the one of the nation’s oldest medical cannabis testing labs, Stepp Hill, Inc. On August 16, 2022, the MSDH issued Chromatic LLC (dba Steep Hill Mississippi) a provisional license. They still require that we complete a number of additional steps before we can provide testing and we anticipate no problems completing those steps by our planned readiness date, as described below. This includes a rigorous and robust process called “test method validation”, which can require multiple weeks.
We have been very surprised that several prospective lab owners have not commercialized and sought licensure for their proposed cannabis labs. We understand that a robust and healthy medical cannabis industry will need several labs to choose
from and we will welcome responsible and credible
competitors as our colleagues, joining us as we seek to promote the safety of Mississippians.
We currently estimate that we will be ready to collect and analyze samples sometime in November. We believe that by onboarding customers systematically and over several weeks, we will be able to provide the highest and most reliable levels of service. We look forward to working together
to serve medical cannabis patients in Mississippi as we all seek to ensure a safe supply of product for their needs.

TESTING
After talking with Steep Hill Mississippi and Magnolia Tech, both medical cannabis testing labs hope to be sampling and testing medical cannabis for safety and potency by the middle of November. This is great news for the patients of Mississippi since licensed medical cannabis dispensaries are anticipated to open their doors ONCE products have been thoroughly tested and have passed with flying colors.
MDOR will make the announcement of the OFFICIAL opening date for dispensaries.
A NOTE TO OUR PATIENTS: PLEASE BE SURE TO FILL OUT YOUR MSDH APPLICATION ACCURATELY AND SEND ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION.
MSDH HAS 30 DAYS TO APPROVE YOUR APPLICATION.
THAT 30 DAY PERIOD STARTS OVER EACH TIME YOUR APPLICATION IS REJECTED.
