Learning objectives:

The participants can perform an installation of the cabin guide units (with rollers) in the lift (Skills, intermediate level). The participants can perform an installation of the guide ropes, including the coiling-up or cut (Skills, intermediate level). The participants can perform an inspection of labels on wire ropes (skills, intermediate level). The participants can explain how to do a visual inspection of the guide ropes according to ISO 4309 (Knowledge, intermediate level). The participants can examine guide ropes and recognise when these are in flawless condition e.g. Ø 12 at the lowest landing (Knowledge, basic level). The participants can perform a rope tension inspection of the guide ropes (Skills, intermediate level). The participants can take initiative and take responsibility to adjust guide ropes tension to the specified value (Ability, intermediate level). The participants can explain how to do a visual inspection of the coiling-up of rope ends (Knowledge, intermediate level. The participants can perform an installation of the wire rope fixings and an adjustment of the wire ropes at the landings (Skills, intermediate level). The participants can explain how to do a visual inspection of the wire rope fixings at the landings (Knowledge, intermediate level).

The instructor shall:

Present examples of guide ropes and cabin guide units.

Facilitate practical training on guide ropes:

Installation and adjustment.

Fixing and adjustment.

Inspection (condition and tension).

Provide individual feedback to participants on their performance.

The participants shall:

Engage in practice, share experiences, and apply the received feedback in following exercises.
